Hemicholinium blocks the transport of choline into synaptosomes, whereas botulinum toxin blocks the calcium-mediated release of acetylcholine. The released acetylcholine is hydrolyzed rapidly by acetylcholinesterase to choline and acetate. Ginseng enhances the uptake of choline and facilitates the release of acetylcholine. 

Ginseng inhibits calcium channels on primary sensory neurons. 

Ginsenoside Rgi had no effect on arachidonate metabolism, but it did reduce the elevation of cytosolic free calcium concentration [Ca2+]i shown in the second phase (Ca2+ influx) induced by adrenaline and thrombin "Fig. (37)". The results suggest that ginsenoside Rgl in red ginseng roots may be effective as a drug for the treatment of arteriosclerosis and thrombosis. 

Clinically important, potentially hazardous interactions with acenocoumarol, anagrelide, anticoagulants, bismuth, boswellia, calcium hydroxylapatite, capsicum, cholestyramine, desvenlafaxine, devil s claw, dexamethasone, dexibuprofen, dicumarol, etodolac, evening primrose, flunisolide, ginkgo biloba, ginseng, heparin, ibuprofen, indomethacin, ketoprofen, ketorolac, lumiracoxib, methotrexate, methylprednisolone, nilutamide, NSAIDs, phellodendron, prednisone, resveratrol, reteplase, rivaroxaban, sermorelin, sulfites, tirofiban, triamcinolone, urokinase, valdecoxib, valproic acid, verapamil, warfarin...
