However, at the same time it is possible to achieve sufficient bonding to steel without having problems with the self-adhesive silicone sticking to the mould, as is the case with conventional bonding agents for rubber to metal components. [Pg.292]

Rubber. Both natural and synthetic rubber are used as bonding agents for abrasive wheels. Rubber-bond wheels are ideal for thin cut-off and slicing wheels and centerless grinding feed wheels. They are more flexible and more water-resistant than resinoid wheels. [Pg.15]

Nitrile rubber is used preferably for contact adhesives with improved plasticizer resistance. Polyisobutylene is used in pressure-sensitive adhesives. Butyl rubber is sometimes added to pressure-sensitive and hot-melt adhesives, although it is mainly used in sealing compounds. Epoxy resins and reactive (meth)acrylate adhesives (reactive adhesives) are modified with polychloroprene, butyl, and nitrile rubber. Chlorinated rubber is added in small quantities to contact adhesives and also to rubber-to-metal bonding agents for improving the adhesion properties. [Pg.11]

Rubber. The mbber industry consumes finely ground metallic selenium and Selenac (selenium diethyl dithiocarbamate, R. T. Vanderbilt). Both are used with natural mbber and styrene—butadiene mbber (SBR) to increase the rate of vulcanization and improve the aging and mechanical properties of sulfudess and low sulfur stocks. Selenac is also used as an accelerator in butyl mbber and as an activator for other types of accelerators, eg, thiazoles (see Rubber chemicals). Selenium compounds are useflil as antioxidants (qv), uv stabilizers, (qv), bonding agents, carbon black activators, and polymerization additives. Selenac improves the adhesion of polyester fibers to mbber. [Pg.337]

The original compound, maleimide (2,5-dioxo-A -pyrroline), is synthesized by the cyclo-condensation of ammonia and maleic acid. Similarly, primary amine is added to maleic anhydride, followed by cyclocondensation, to form N-substituted maleimide (Fig. 2). This reaction is applied to the preparation of bis-maleimides (BMl) [1]. At first, BMI was used as a crosslinking agent for natural rubber (NR). An o-dichlorobenzene solution of NR was crosslinked by BMI at I08-150°C in the presence of peroxides. The radicals generated from peroxides react with the double bonds of both BMI and NR [ 1 ]. [Pg.814]

Normally only used for further dilution of previously prepared rubber solutions to ensure uniformity. Often used after storage periods for such products as bonding agents to lift deposits from the bottom of delivery and storage drums and to re-establish full dispersion of all the components of the system. [Pg.197]
