Bayer s Texin polyester and polyether TPU and TPU/polycarbon-ate (PC) elastomers were pioneer TPEs in early development of passenger car fronts and rear bumpers. PC imparts Izod impact strength toughness required for automotive exterior body panels. Extrusion applications include film/sheet, hose, tubing, profiles, and wire/cable covering. Hardness ranges from Shore A 70 to Shore D 75. Texin can be painted without a primer. [Pg.202]

By the early 1960 s, B.F. Goodrich produced Estane, while Mobay and Upjohn marketed Texin, and Pellethane respectively in the United States. Bayer and Elas-togran marketed Desmopan and Elastollan respectively, in Europe. [Pg.2]

Thermoplastic urethane elastomers are products derived from the basic urethane polymer work conducted since 1937 by Professor Otto Bayer and co-workers in Germany. The first commercial uses of solid urethane polymers were synthetic fibers and bristles in Germany under the trademark of Perlon U thermoplastics under the trademark Igamid U. Later investigations led to the development of the Vulkollan cast urethane elastomers and the Multrathane cast systems at Mobay Chemical Company. In 1961, Mobay introduced Texin urethane elastomer resins for injection molding and extrusion on thermoplastic equipment. [Pg.352]

Two Federal Food and Drug Administration (FDA) approved grades of thermoplastic polyurethane elastomer (TPU) with different hardness values were employed in this study. One was a Shore A 85 ( D 29) and the second a Shore D 45. Both TPU materials were Texin grades from Bayer Corporation and had similar melt viscosities. A high... [Pg.1720]

Two thermoplastic elastomers (Bayer s Texin DP7-1049 and 990) were used for this work. Both materials were aromatic polyether-based thermoplastic polyurethane with similar melt viscosities and Shore hardness valnes of 45D and A90, respectively [19]. [Pg.2941]
