Schmidbaur et al.11 reported the P=C distance as 1.692 A (average of the two molecules), which is longer than Bart s value of 1.661 A. Schmidbaur et al suggested that the earlier study may suffer from, in addition to temperature effects, systematic errors. [Pg.277]

For the carbon-carbon double-bond distance in ethylene Barteli and Bonham12 have reported the value 1.334 0.003 A from an electron-diffraction study and have stated that this value is compatible with the spectroscopic values of the moments of inertia.13 This value corresponds to t lie double-bond radius 0.667 A for carbon, as given in Table 7-2. [Pg.230]

Bart and co-workers [25] and others [34, 101, 163] have reviewed the application of TG-MS for the study of polymeric materials, thermoplastics, thermosets and elastomers. This thermoanalytical technique is used for the structural characterisation of homopolymers, copolymers, polymeric blends and composites and finds application in the detection of monomeric residuals, solvents, additives, (toxic) degradation products, etc. Information is... [Pg.25]

XAFS spectroscopy, by default, probes the electronic structure of the specific element in the catalyst being studied, because the XANES spectral shape reflects the density of empty states (Bart, 1986 Fuggle and Ingelsfield, 1992). An important question about the local electronic state... [Pg.365]

The simplest compound of this series was recently descnbed by Bart lett and Tate, < but, shortly before, Lin kova, Kil disheva oikI Xmmy nte had prepared the -dimethyl homolog. The o-amino derivatives have been studied by yugodav i ,Ms. im sian - o authors. [Pg.107]

The Germans, however, used an entirely different process (see p. 306), based on the reaction between the diazonium salts and sodium arsenite which Bart had studied for the first time in 1912. ... [Pg.303]

The hemoglobin consists mainly of Hb-Bart s (74) and some Hb-H ijSi). Some papers (L18, L22) report the presence of a small amount of normal Hb-A, but this conclusion is based on electrophoretic mobilities only. More recent studies (T8) have offered evidence for the pres-... [Pg.196]

Since 1910 the method of Bart has been modified by a number of investigators, Bart, himself, being the first to improve the reaction. He found that coupling of aryldiazonium compounds with alkali arsenites is catalyzed by copper salts and by silver or copper powder. In a later patent the use of metallic catalysts, copper, nickel, or cobalt, as well as their salts is said to facilitate the removal of diazo nitrogen at low temperatures and to obviate the formation of by-products. Though many have since observed that the coupling reaction is speeded by the use of the above catalysts, no systematic study has been made to determine the effect of such catalysts on the final yield. [Pg.417]

Most data available from past studies are summarized in Figs. 40 and 41 for the longitudinal dispersion coefficient of the emulsion phase in fluidized catalyst beds of good fluidity. Such coefficients were first measured in the pioneer work of Bart (1950, B20) for a wide range of gas velocity (Uq = 7.5-90 cm/sec). His values with a 3.2-cm-diam column are approximately one-half those by Morooka et al. (M40) in the higher flow rate region. The basis for their correlation follows (M27). [Pg.338]

Castro et al. [82CAS/JER], [84CAS/P1C] have also indicated the presence of compounds with other stoichiometries in the system, and characterised them by differential scanning calorimetry. However, the existence of these compounds do not find support in the studies by Dimitriev et al. [83D1M/LAK] and Bart and Petrini [84BAR/PET], and they have therefore not been accepted by the review. [Pg.186]

SAW PALMETTO is the fruit of Sabal serrulata (Mich.) Benth et Hook. (syn. Sermon repms (Bart.) Small), family Arecaceae. The fruits contain fatty acids and steroids, particularly 6-sitosterol, and liquid COj hexane extracts of the berries are commercially available. Pharmacological studies have shown inhibition of 5-a-reductase and a reduction in hormone receptors in prostate tissue. Over 18 clinical trials involving nearly... [Pg.89]

After years of studying the master persuaders, linguists, lovers, and therapists, Bart discovered the secrets to falling in love AND he can teach you the specific method for making others fall in love with you, (or justlust, whichever fits your agenda.) Much... [Pg.63]

Bart [9] studied CH4 oxidation in a stoichiometric mixture of CO, H2, NO, CO2, H2O, N2, and O2 (Table 1, left column). The experimental LO curves of CO, H2 and CH4 (Figure 1) show that CH4 oxidation takes place only when CO and... [Pg.400]

All these features explain why the applications of EXAFS to the study of very dispersed materials have increased so much in the last few years. Figure 2 shows the tremendous growth of the number of papers on catalysits characterization by EXAFS coupled to the use of synchrotron light. This figure comes from the very detailed and exhaustive review Bart and Vlaic recently published on the subject... [Pg.71]

Bart et al. (62) have described the enclosure of a Mettler TA-1 thermoanalyzer in a sealed system in order to permit the examination of samples containing alpha and beta/gamma emissions. Samples containing plutonium and uranium may be studied by TG with no radiation hazard to the operator. All balance components could be reached through glove ports. [Pg.134]
