Barium Chemicals, Inc., P.O. Box 218, Steubenville, OH 43952-5218, USA Bel-Tyne Products Ltd., Victoria Works, Brewery Street, Portwood, Stockport SKI 2BQ, England... [Pg.909]

A. F. Peterson (M T Chemicals, Inc., Rahway, N. J.) Barium stannate is a commercial product M T Chemicals manufactures. [Pg.162]

Isobutylene, 99,0% methyl chloride, 99.5% and ethyl chloride, 99.7% (J. P. Baker Ccanpany) were dried by pacing these pises throu ass columns (120 X 5 cm ID) packed with porous barium ordde (Barium and Chemicals, Inc.) and Molecular Sieves (3 A, powder). [Pg.5]

Because the regions of the alimentary tract vary widely ia pH and chemical composition, many different commercial formulations of barium sulfate are available. The final preparations of varyiag viscosity, density, and formulation stabiUty levels are controlled by the different size, shape, uniformity and concentration of barium sulfate particles and the presence of additives. The most important additives are suspending and dispersiag agents used to maintain the suspension stabiUty. Commercial preparations of barium sulfate iaclude bulk and unit-dose powders and suspensions and principal manufacturers are E-Z-EM (Westbury, New York), Lafayette-Pharmacol, Inc. (Lafayette, Indiana), and Picker International, Inc. (Cleveland, Ohio). [Pg.469]

Diethyl 1,1-cyclobutanedicarboxylate is prepared by the method of Mariella and Raube.2 The diester is isolated in 55% yield, b.p. 111-114° (16 mm.). The diester can be saponified by the method of Heisig and Stodola,3 but omitting the barium chloride step, to give the diacid. This material upon recrystallization from ethyl acetate gives the diacid in high purity. The diacid may also be purchased from Aldrich Chemical Company, Inc. [Pg.38]

Diaminopropane (97%, Aldrich Chemical Company, Inc.) was distilled at atmospheric pressure under nitrogen from barium oxide and stored... [Pg.65]

Cyclobutanecarboxylic acid, 98%, is from Aldrich Chemical Company, Inc., and is vacuum distilled before use. Tetrahydrofuran is freshly distilled from sodium-benzophenone under nitrogen. N-Methyiraorpholine, 99%, is from Aldrich Chemical Company, Inc., and is pre-dried over barium oxide, distilled from ninhydrin, and stored over sodium hydroxide pellets. Ethyl chloroformate, 97%, is from Aldrich Chemical Company, Inc., and is freshly distilled prior to use under a nitrogen atmosphere. Anhydrous ammonia (99.99% min) is from a Matheson lecture bottle. The silica gel used for flash chromatography is... [Pg.204]

Cuprous bromide and l-octyn-3-ol were used as supplied by the Aldrich Chemical Company, Inc. Dioxane was dried over sodium/benzophenone and distilled, and diisopropylamine was distilled from barium oxide. [Pg.204]

Stain Technique No. 1 (Feldspars, Quartz, and Calcite). Chemicals needed in this procedure are concentrated HF (52%), a 5% barium chloride solution in distilled water, a saturated solution of sodium cobaltinitrite, and a solution of amaranth (28 grams of F.D. and C. Red No. 2 pure coal tar dye in 2 liters of water). Amaranth is also called Azorubin S, C. 1.16185, available from Polysciences, Inc., in Warrington, Pennsylvania, and other chemical supply houses. This stain is primarily for silicates, but may include clay minerals when aggregated in shale particles. Testing with the shale, as such, will define the usefulness of the stain in this regard. [Pg.150]

Barium Sulfates n (barites, blanc fixe, heavy spar, permanent white, terra ponderosa) BaS04. A white powder obtained from the mineral barite or synthesized chemically. One of the synthetic varieties, hlanc fixe, is made by mixing aqueous solutions containing sulfate and barium ions. As a filler in plastics and rubbers, barium sulfate imparts opacity to X rays but only a low order of optical opacity. Thus it is useful as a filler when it is desired to increase specific gravity without adversely affecting the tinctorial power of pigments. (Ash M, Ash I (1998) Handbook of fillers, extenders and dilutents. Synapse Informtion Resources, Inc., New York). [Pg.67]

Stability and Reactivity data from MSDSs. These data offer a wealth of information for predicting or interpreting chemical reactions that would be applicable to various courses, including general chemistry, organic chemistry, and inorganic chemistry. In particular, MSDSs from MDL Information Systems, Inc. list extensive reaction information under "Incompatibilities." For example, magnesium is incompatible with barium carbonate because of the formation of an explosive acetylide (21). Have your students write the reaction. [Pg.13]
