Strontium-barium-niobate

Figure 9.2 Polarization-isotropic photo-induced light scattering in strontium-barium-niobate doped with 0.66 mol% Cerium (SBN61 Ce). Strongly amplified scattered light occurs in a wide solid angle opposite to the polar c-axis. The label denotes the apex angle measured with respect to the directly transmitted laser beam in air. Ap = 632.8 nm, Ep c. The insets show a photograph of the sbn crystal (left) and the schematic setup of the experiment (right), respectively. Strontium barium niobate is a single-crystal material with the tungsten bronze type of structure which is made by the Czochralski method but has yet to find a major use. It has relaxor characteristics of the type shown in Fig. 7.1 which give it a high pyroelectric coefficient and detectivity, but its high permittivity lowers the figure of merit l. ... [Pg.421]

Earlier work on photorefractive materials was centered on the discovery of the properties of the phenomenon in optical crystals, most notably lithium niobate, strontium barium niobate, and barium tantalate. Both the mathematics of the theory of photorefraction outlined above and its application to these materials and... [Pg.3651]

FEMTOSECOND LASER MODIFICATION ON STRONTIUM BARIUM NIOBATE GLASSES DOPED WITH Er IONS... [Pg.573]

A localized modification of the optical properties in Er " doped Strontium Barium Niobate (SBN) glasses using a femtosecond laser were carried out. The samples were irradiated with a different number of pulses per spot at two laser fluences. [Pg.573]

In this work, erbium doped strontium barium niobate glasses have been irradiated with a femtosecond laser. The properties of these glasses and the changes induced by a cw laser have been studied in a previous paper . Optical measurements show the changes of the local structure in a localized area after the irradiation and they arc compared with the bulk glass ceramic sample obtained by thermal treatment with a furnace. [Pg.573]

Femtosecond Laser Modification on Strontium Barium Niobate Giasses Doped with Er + ions... [Pg.574]

Localized zone of strontium barium niobate glass doped with Er were irradiated by using a femtosecond laser at two different fluences and varying the number of pulses per spot. Inside these irradiated areas, the emission spectra of the Er SMl Hn/a) -> lu/2, lii/2 -> I15/2 and ln/2 -> Ii5,2 transitions were measured. [Pg.574]
