Band Sawing

Stainless steel sheet stock is used to form custom products such as tees, elbows, and reducers. The sheets are cut with a band saw or plasma torch into smaller pieces and custom formed into final product shapes using various forming and bending equipments. 

For recycle, cured specimens were cut up with a band saw, mixed with dry ice, and groiud in a Fitzpatrick Homoloid WD-36-3 hammer mill to pass a 500-micron screen 70-80 5 of the ground recycle was between 200-500 microns, the remainder finer. After solidification, the ingots are shaped using diamond-coated band saws or wires in an abrasive medium in order to have square multicrystalline or pseudosquare rounded angle monocrystalline blocks. This process removes the outer parts of the ingots, generally out of specification for dimensions and with some contamination from the containers or the furnaces. 

The anodes are used high carbon steel band saw blades (Sandvik) cut into strips approximately 8" long. The cathodes are aluminum wire pounded to a thickness of 0.1mm. 

After being set up for cutting material to a specified length, the power hacksaw will operate automatically without need for an operator until all the material loaded on the carriage has been cut. Horizontal band saws are one of the most widely used sawing machines for cutoff operations. These band saws range from small manually operated machines to large, fully automatic production machines. Vertical band saws are also used but are primarily manually controlled machines used in tool rooms and shops for maintenance and low production work. 

We studied air hydrate crystals in the Dome Fuji ice obtained at depths of 780, 1570, and 2450 m (Figure 1). In a cold room at -20 "C, the ice cores containing the hydrate crystals were cut into ice cubes with a volume of 5 x 5 x 5 mm by using a band saw the surfaces of these cubes were then planed with a microtome. 

In abattoirs arormd the world, beef carcasses are normally split laterally down the center of the vertebral column, usually by use of a circular band saw, to separate them into "sides." Carcass splitting disrupts, severs, and spreads the spinal cord tissue along the vertebral column of a carcass. Additionally, carcass splitting saws accumulate spinal cord tissue inside the saw housings during the splitting process and spread that CNS tissue to the split surfaces of subsequent carcasses.

Fluoropolymers, including polytetrafluoroethylene parts of any size, can be sawed. Coarse saw blades are preferable to fine-toothed blades that can become blocked with resin. Longer saw blades perform better than short blades such as a hacksaw blades. A band saw operated at moderate speeds is ideal because the long blade can remove the heat.

Band sawing and power hacksawing are possible with high-speed steel blades.
