Standardization and Testing. Potency is determiaed by quantitating the Hepatitis B antigen by an antibody-biading assay combiaed with a determination of the amount of proteia. Safety testing typical for cell culture-derived products is also performed, and iacludes assuting the absence of Hve vims. 

The H locus codes for this fiicosyltransferase. The h allele of the H locus codes for an inactive fucosyltrans-ferase therefore, individuals of the hh genotype cannot generate H substance, the precursor of the A and B antigens. Thus, individuals of the hh genotype will have red blood cells of type O, even though they may possess the enzymes necessary to make the A or B substances (see below).

Erythrocytes are labeled with cell surface antigens that determine blood type. Two types of inherited antigens are found on red blood cells A antigens and B antigens. Accordingly, four blood types are possible (see Table 16.1) ...

Sometimes both members of a pair of alleles express their phenotypes. In such cases, the alleles are codominant. An example is found in blood groups a person with both A and B genes has both A and B antigens and has blood type AB. Dominance is often incomplete, the heterozygote being somewhere between the two homozygotes in its phenotype.
