Root of Scutellaria baicalensis Georgi (Family Labiatae or Lamiaceae), a perennial herb up to 60 cm high, with a large and long taproot plant native to eastern Asia. Root is collected in spring and autumn, usually from 3- to 4-year-old plants. After having rootlets and dirt removed, the root is partially dried, rid of root bark, and then further dried to completion. Produced mainly in northern China.
