Kavetskii et al. [224] developed a method for the simultaneous determination of pesticides in soil. A combination of thin layer chromatography and gas chromatography was used. The pesticides examined were 4,4 DDT, 4,4 DDD, 4,4 DDE, 2,4 DDT, GHCG, aGHCG, Metaphos, Phosphamidon, Phozalone, Atrazine, Prometryne, Simazine and 2,4 dichlorophenoxy acetic acid. Detection limits were in the range 0.5-5pg kgy1. [Pg.267]

Chemicals processed. Waste pesticide solutions were collected after spray operations during late May, June, and July of 1983, and consisted primarily of three compounds 2,4-D [(2,4-dichloro-phenoxy)acetic acid], atrazine (2-chloro-4-(ethylamino)-6-(isopropylamino)- -triazine) and paraquat (1,1 -dimethyl-4,4 -bipyridinium dichloride). Our efforts were primarily directed at these pesticides, which are shown in Table I together with their formulations and concentrations. [Pg.197]

The first synthetic herbicide12 was 2,4-dichlorophenoxy-acetic acid (11.7). The one used in largest volume today is atrazine, which is typical of a group of triazine herbicides. Glyphosate (very low mammalian toxicity) is used extensively to kill vegetation nonselectively.13 Alachlor is a typ-... [Pg.319]

Branson B12 sonic bath). The extracts were decanted, centrifhged (10 min, 10,000 X g) to remove particulate material, and 0.01 volume of glacial acetic acid was added. These solutions were applied to SCX aromatic sulfonic acid SPE columns (Analytichem) containing 300 mg of resin. The columns were washed with 6 ml of 1 M I HP04, and atrazine was then eluted with 2 ml of acetonitrile 0.1 M i HP04 1 1. The eluates were diluted to 5 ml with PBS-Tween, and dilutions were analyzed hy EIA. [Pg.66]

The electrochemistry of triazines is well documented.Polak and Volke described a dpp procedure for the determination of symmetrical and asymmetrical triazines (desmetryne, methoprotryne, prometryne, aziprotryne, terbutryne, atrazine, cyanazine, simazine, terbuty-lazine, metribuzine) in water. The herbicides are extracted into chloroform from the sample at pH 8 to 9. The detection limit in 0.02 M H2SO4 or acetic acid buffered solution at pH 2.5 is given as 10 M. [Pg.127]

Water samples containing 3 ppm levels of analytes yielded detectable peaks. Simazine, atrazine, and propazine were separated and quantitated using a C]g column (thermospray MS) and a 50/50 methanol/water (1% acetic acid) mobile phase. Here, peaks of lOOng injected were detected [214]. In a separate study, particle beam MS detection was also used with a C g column and a 70/30 methanol/water (1.7mg/L phenoxyacetic acid and 1% acetic acid) mobile phase. A 50 ng injected detection limit was reported. An excellent 10-min separation was achieved with this method. [Pg.110]

Seven chlorotriazines (simazine, cyanazine, hydroxy- and deethyl-atrazine, atra-zine, deisopropylatrazine, chlorodiamino-.r-triazine) were baseline resolved in <14 min using a Cg column (thermospray MS) and a 20/80 —> 55/45 methanol/ water (50 mM ammonium acetate with 1% formic acid) gradient [216], Excellent peak shapes and good resolution were obtained. Detection limits in the 20 ng injected range were reported. The authors noted that these detection limits could not be achieved on a Cjg column. [Pg.109]
