Aromatic nylon polymer, properties

The process uses Ultramid T (a crystalline, semi-aromatic Nylon 6/6T), a special BASF compound which incorporates 30% glass fibre and other properties to facilitate the initiation of metal deposition and metal adhesion. The final result, after incorporating a special laser-sensitive metal complex, was Ultramid T KR4380 LS. This polymer has the high melting point of 295 "C and is equally suitable... [Pg.38]

High performance polymer fibers (HPPF) have excellent mechanical properties compared to traditional textile fibers such as nylon. The typical HPPFs are aramid and polyethylene fibers (6). Aramid is a generic name for a class of aromatic polyamide fibers, most of which are varieties of poly(p-pheny-lene terephthalamide). Kevlar is the trade name of the varieties of aramid polymers introduced conunercially by Dupont. The molecules in the fibers of these materials are oriented in the axial direction. Poly(p-phenylene terephthalamide) is a rigid molecule with the following structure ... [Pg.669]

Pure aromatic structure of given polymers brings them high thermooxidation stability and deformation resistance. Mechanical properties of polysulfone allow one to classify them as technical thermoplasts having high durability, rigidity and impact stability. The polymer Astrel 360 is in the same row with carbon steel, polycarbonate and nylon on its durability. [Pg.140]

Polyipropylene terephthalate), more often referred to as poly(trimethylene terephthalate) (PTT), was identified from research into aromatic polyesters, but was not commercialised at the time due to difficulty in obtaining pure, low-cost, 1,3-propanediol. Finally introduced into large-scale production in the late 1990s, there are great hopes for commercial application of this polymer, especially as a fibre. In general, it has properties between those of PET and PBT, but has certain unique properties of its own, including superior resilience and wear properties, giving carpets tufted with such fibres physical properties akin to the nylons, and stain resistance similar to PET. [Pg.4]
