Recently described labeled HYNlG-conjugated peptides also involve RGD (Arg-Gly-Asp) peptides targeting the integrin (vitronectin) receptor. Tertiary ligand complexes of HYNlG-conjugated peptide, tricine and trisodium triphenylphosphine-3,3, 3"-trisulfonate (TPPTS) have been published (Liu et al. 2001 Su et al. 2002). [Pg.46]

In addition to deletion modifications which render these attenuated viruses more specific, researchers have recently made use of tissue-specific promoters (TSPs) and transductional modifications to achieve efficient tumor-specific cell lysis. Continued studies with ONYX-015 and G207 showed that these viruses do not transduce the tumor tissue to an extent that would produce observable therapeutic benefits. The use of TSPs that control the expression of viral replication proteins is a useful strategy and has been documented by several groups [119 124]. Transductional modifications also increase gene transfer to tumor cells. The incorporation of the RGD (Arg-Gly-Asp) peptide motif into... [Pg.494]

The results showed that RGDS were successfully immobilized on the PLLA scaffolds via plasma treatment. When the RGDS were immobilized on the PLLA surface, they promoted attachment of rat osteosarcoma (ROS), osteoblast-like cells onto the PLLA, resulting in higher cell densities in the RGDS immobilized scaffold than in the unmodified scaffold. The results suggested that the immobilization of RGD (Arg-Gly-Asp) peptides makes PLLA scaffolds more suitable for culture of osteoblast-like cells and facilitates their application in bone regeneration. [Pg.165]

A common problem is the identification of molecular conformations that satisfy NMR constraints. Sanderson et al. describe the use of a GA to determine possible solution conformations of a cyclic Arg-Gly-Asp peptide analog that were consistent with NMR data. Torsions were encoded as binary numbers. In order to perform full cyclic conformational search the macrocycle was broken and constraints were applied to ensure ring closure. Beckers et al. describe a distributed GA that is used to obtain biopolymer conformations consistent with NMR data. ... [Pg.1131]
