A number of products are being marketed under the trade name POLYON. These include coated basic fertilizer materials, ie, urea, potassium nitrate, potassium sulfate, potassium chloride, ammonium sulfate, ammonium phosphate, and iron sulfate, in various particle sizes. Asia dominates the world import market for urea and ammonium phosphates. China and India are particularly large importers and variations in their import requirements have a major impact on world prices. The agricultural and fertilizer sectors of these two countries could be affected by the World Trade Organization (WTO) agreements with China. The agreements will probably have a beneficial effect globally. However, some individual countries and companies may experience adverse effects36. 

Trade is an important component of the world nitrogen industry, and trade in each of the nitrogen products analyzed (ammonia, urea, ammonium nitrate, ammonium sulfate, and ammonium phosphates) increased substantially between 1986 and 1998. At present, only two aluminum phosphate ores are known to be used for direct application after thermal treatment. One such ore is found near Thies, in Senegal. The as-mined ore contains about 29 percent P205 on a dry basis after calcination it contains over 34 percent P205. The calcined product is ground to about 95 percent smaller than 0.15 mm and marketed for direct application under the trade name Phosphal. About 75 percent of the P205 is soluble in alkaline ammonium citrate, and the product is effective as superphosphate in calcareous, neutral, and acid...

Many intumescent flame retardants are based on mixtures of polyols, amines such as melamine, and phosphates such as ammonium polyphosphate. These have not been much used in vinyl because of potentially degradative effects and because of equivalent protection being supplied by phosphate plasticizers.
