Aluminium transport properties

Aluminium Arsenide (AlAs). Only a small amount of reliable data exists on the transport properties of AlAs. Most results are extrapolations from data obtained from the technologically more important solid solutions of type Al cGai jAs. At roomtemperature, values of the electrical conductivity of around 10f2 cm have been found. [Pg.617]

In order to overcome these stability problems a wide-range of alternative dopants have been studied in an effort to reproduce the transport properties of LISICON whilst eliminating the problems of aging. The introduction of trivalent cations into the basic lithium germanate structure can cause an adjustment in the lithium concentration, but in this case it is possible to introduce additional, interstitial, lithium cations or vacancies on the lithium position. Which of these types of doping occurs depends on the nature of the substitution that occurs. This can be most clearly illustrated by looking at the introduction of aluminium cations. These can enter the structure in place of and so introduce an interstitial lithium cation ... [Pg.152]

For the transport of heavy ions to a solid surface coated with an adherent water film, like aluminium oxide, the visco-elastic properties of electric field forces and the concentration of heavy ions may be important for the rate of adsorption. For this reason we need information not only on relaxations restricted to a surface of an extended liquid, but also on the adherent water layer at the adsorbents. The last issue may be a bridge to the thermodynamics and flow properties of thin liquid films have been studied by some excellent research groups. [Pg.95]

The development of applications for aluminium and its alloys, as well as the sustained rise in consumption can be attributed to several of its properties which are decisive criteria in users choice of metals, especially in the fields of transport, building, electrical engineering and packaging. [Pg.9]

These are the strain-hardenable aluminium alloys with the best mechanical properties and corrosion resistance. Since 1960, they have been very widely used in marine applications such as shipbuilding, coastal equipment, and in road transport, for example as tanks for hydrocarbons and other liquid or pulverulent products. [Pg.221]

Aluminium equipment is used for the fabrication of these alcohols, for their transportation and their storage. Neither their aspect nor their properties are altered in contact with aluminium. [Pg.476]

Energy-transducing processes in the cytoplasmic membrane of Rps. sphaeroides such as electron-transfer-linked proton translocation, and solute transport can be studied in whole cells or in isolated membrane vesicles wnich have retained their functional properties. In these latter systems the membrane-bound activities can be separated from activities in the cytoplasm. Two procedures have been described for the isolation of membrane vesicles. Mechanical disruption of the cells by sonication. French-press treatment or grinding with aluminium yields so-called chromatophores which are mainly derived from the intracytoplasmic membranes (Oelze, Drews, 1972). [Pg.347]
