Against KB cell line

Very interesting results concerning the cytotoxicity of alkaloids isolated from the flowers of ornamental legume plant Senna spectabilis have been noted by Sriphong et al. . N,0-diacetylcassine, 3(f )-benzoyloxy-2(f )-methyl-6(f )-(lh-oxododecyl)-piperidine and 5-hydroxy-2-methyl-6-(lh-oxododecyl)-pyridine V-oxide exhibited cytotoxicity against KB cell lines.

Cytotoxicity of 14 and 15 against the KB Cell Line and Resistant Variants... 

New diterpenoids of the dolabellane class have been reported, such as clavinflol B (592) from the Taiwanese soft coral Clavularia inflata (706). This metabolite has comparable cytotoxicity against the KB cell line to doxorubicin. A sea whip of the genus Eunicea has yielded the cembrane 593 (707). Both 592 and 593 are considered to be natural since no chlorinated solvents were used in the isolation process, and in both metabolites the chlorine is attached to the less substituted carbon, opposite to what is expected for acid-induced epoxide ring opening. A Kenyan soft coral, Sinu-laria erecta, contains the norcembrane sinularectin (594) (708). 

Daphneticin (12), isolated from Daphne tangutica, showed cytotoxic activity against Walker carcinosarcoma ascites cells (68) but was inactive against KB cells (68). In vitro studies showed cleomiscosin A (9), isolated from the chloroform extract of Brucea javanica, to be active against the murine P-388 lymphocytic leukemia cell line (EDsq = 0.4 pg ml ), but inactive against the KB test system (57). Luyengi et al. reported the lack of activity of the same compound when evaluated against HL-60 human promyelocytic leukemia cells (59). 

DS-penaustrosides A (79) and B (80) revealed cytotoxic activities against murine lymphoma L1210 and human epidermoid carcinoma KB cell lines [IC5o=0.12 (L1210) and 0.62 (KB) p.g/ml for 79 2.1 (L1210) and 4.6 (KB) ig/ml for 80] [69]. Unfortunately, the authors did not show the data on activities of relative holostane derivatives in the same experimental conditions. 

Cissampelos pareira L. (aerial parts) (I-P,0,II-7 I-a, II-6)-Chalcone-flavone Cissampeloflavone (311). Antiprotozoal activity, against Trypanosoma cruzi and T. brucei rhodiense, and has a low cytotoxicity in the human KB cell line. Ramirez et al., 2003 [247] Maya et al.,2007[248]. 

From the roots of Crossopetalum gaumeri Ankli and coworkers isolated four highly cytotoxic cardenolides. The methanol extract was fractionated using cytotoxicity against a KB cell line. The compounds showed characteristic signals for a butenolactone ring in its H-NMR...
