Advanced Development Tools

Computer Associates has a series of products in the market that support expert system development and knowledge management. A remainder of the original Aion development is CleverPath Aion Business Rules Expert (BRE), which is an advanced [Pg.53]

NEXPERT OBJECT, a system originally developed by Neuron Data (later renamed to Blaze software), was one of the first systems written in Pascal and [Pg.54]

NEXPERT OBJEXT represented domain specihc knowledge explicitly as networks of rules and class-object hierarchies. The rule-based and object-based representations are tightly integrated in a common design environment and are supported by visual editors and graphical browsers. [Pg.55]

The system s inference engine offers one of the largest sets of reasoning techniques. Besides forward and backward chaining, examples are as follows  [Pg.55]

NEXPERT OBJECT was probably one of the most mature systems concerning the integration capabilities with software on a corporate level. It offered an application programming interface (API) that supports industry standard programming languages, such as C, C-H-, Smalltalk, or LISP. [Pg.55]

SiC whisker-reinforced alumina is a major advance in tool material development, as it provides a means to increase the fracture toughness of the material via the composite material approach. It is entirely possible that in the next century many new whiskers of refractory, hard materials will be made... [Pg.221]

Quantitative Structure-Activity Relationship (QSAR) approach was first developed by Cros (1863) and Brown and Fraser (1868). In the 1960s, C. Hansch, T. Fujita, S. M. Free Jr. and J. W. Wilson started what is now considered to be classical QSAR. A series of powerful advanced computer tools have now been introduced, increasing the capacity of QSAR. [Pg.191]

This chapter has provided a concise introduction to the design of antifouling paints. It has been shown how the paint development is driven by both empirical testing and formulation and advanced simulation tools. The research... [Pg.233]

As discussed previously, ceramic matrix composites were originally developed to overcome the brittleness of monolithic ceramics. Thermal shock, impact and creep resistance can also be improved, making CMCs premium replacement choices for some technical ceramics. Industrial applications such as in automotive gas turbines or advanced cutting tools are already taking advantage of such characteristics. [Pg.54]

Oxides are not the only technically important ceramic materials. Carbides (SiC, B4C, TiC) and nitrides (BN, AIN, TiN, Si3N4) are of prime importance as bonded components in advanced developments for the machine tool, microelectronics, aircraft, automobile and heat exchanger industries. [Pg.261]

Abstract Development of new materials is needed for numerous applications in engineering, medical, and scientific arenas. In this chapter, we describe some of our research efforts that focus on developing strategies and tools for high throughput production and screening to create advanced biomaterials and chemical sensors. Using our developed tools, we are able to produce and screen a wide array of materials in a short period of time. In several current embodiments, the system can readily produce and fully screen 100-1,000 samples/day. Our developed automated systems can provide results with minimal user input, yet with better precision and accuracy in comparison to traditional manual methods. [Pg.393]

Matt Newville took his PhD in Physics from the University of Washington in Seattle, WA for the development of advanced analysis tools for X-ray Absorption Fine-Structure and the application of these to study the thermodynamic properties of metallic alloys. He is currently a Staff Scientist at the Consortium for Advanced Radiation Sources (CARS) at the University of Chicago. [Pg.596]

Rehhein H, Molkentin J, Schubring R, Lieckfeldt D, Ludwig A (2008). Development of advanced anal3dical tools to determine origin of caviar. J. Appl. Ichthyol., 24(suppl. 1), 65-... [Pg.219]

Both the demands for advanced grinding tools and for the precise machining of hard cast iron and hardened steel with cutting ceramics are expected to promote the further development of powder technologies for the manufacture of highly perfect submicrometer microstructures for applications in fields where diamond or cBN tools are too expensive. [Pg.680]
