Validation versus Rectification The goal of both rectification and validation is the detecI ion and identification of measurements that contain systematic error. Rectification is typically done simultaneously with reconciliation using the reconciliation resiilts to identify measurements that potentially contain systematic error. Vahdation typically rehes only on other measurements and operating information. Consequently, vahdation is preferred when measurements and their supporting information are hmited. Further, prior screening of measurements limits the possibihty that the systematic errors will go undetected in the rectification step and subsequently be incorporated into any conclusions drawn during the interpretation step. 

The mental images, no matter how well grounded scientifically, are individually and collectively biased, as they have been developed after considerable filtering. The filters result from the scientific training of individuals, available supporting information from other processes, existing theoretical methods, limitations of numerical simulation, and characteristics of experimental methods.

The types of intrinsic dissolution profiles obtainable through the loose powder and constant surface area methods are shown in Fig. 19. Oxy-phenbutazone was obtained as the crystalline anhydrate and monohydrate forms, with the monohydrate being the less soluble [129]. The loose powder dissolution profiles consisted of sharp initial increases, which gradually leveled off as the equilibrium solubility was reached. In the absence of supporting information, the solubility difference between the two species cannot be adequately understood until equilibrium solubility conditions are reached. In addition, the shape of the data curves is not amenable to quantitative mathematical manipulation. The advantage of the constant surface area method is evident in that its dissolution profiles are linear with time, and more easily compared. Additional information about the relative surface areas or particle size distributions of the two materials is not required, since these differences were eliminated when the analyte disc was prepared.

All calculations were performed using Gaussian98 [77], which required making some additions and corrections to the UFF force field because Gaussian98 does not have atom types for square planar rhodium or coordinated double bonds. Details about these changes can be found in the supporting information of our original paper [72],... 

The impact of normal operation of the Eco Logic technology package on human health and the environment was addressed in the ACW I Committee report (NRC, 1999). That report s conclusion—that the health and environmental impacts are minimal—and the supporting information it contains are unchanged.

Quality control is performed at the moment of data entry, in particular, with respect to errors present in publications. Chemical structures are checked for structural consistency by matching the molecular weight (MW) and chemical formula with the ones available in the experimental section and/or supporting information - whenever available, and by comparison to prior publications. Whenever in doubt, we also use other sources, such as the Merck Index [20] and free Internet resources. In the instances...

DNB. Limited data indicate that humans can absorb 1,3-DNB through the skin (Ishihara et al. 1976 White and Hay 1901), and although there was no evidence of adverse respiratory effects, well-conducted studies in animals may provide valuable supportive information. 

Upon completion of exercises 3.5 and 3.6, you probably noticed that not all written works in journals strictly adhere to the move structure in figure 3.1. Not surprisingly, the move structure does not apply to genres intended for a more general audience (e.g., news alerts, book reviews, editorial remarks), nor does it apply to all research-related works. For example, research articles published in Organic Letters omit a Methods section entirely instead, the procedures are published on the Internet as supporting information. 

Interaction with such properties does, however, not allow the investigator to answer the question of where the drug is localized in the particles (on the surface or in the crystal lattice). Thermal interactions were also observed when an incorporated drug or a second type of triglyceride formed a separate phase within the nanoparticles [3,37,64,68]. Drug release studies can provide supportive information on the accessibility of the drug to the aqueous phase [72,108], but separation of the effects from the nanoparticles from those of additional colloidal structures — if present — may be difficult.
