The book is designed for a broad spectrum of users practitioners of computational chemistry who are interested in gaining a broad survey or an entree into a new area of organic chemistry, synthetic and physical organic chemists who might be interested in running some computations of their own and would like to learn of success stories to emulate and pitfalls to avoid, and graduate smdents interested in just what can be accomplished by computational approaches to real chemical problems. [Pg.629]

Because of the volume of the literature regarding amperometric biosensors as well as space limitations it is not possible to cite any substantial contribution to the field. We selected - to the best of our knowledge - representative work that can be of use not only for beginners but also for advanced researchers in the field as a basis for discussion. Examples of success stories accomplished in biosensor research are given as case studies in Section 1.4. The best way to achieve your objective is to use your success stories. Going into an interview, you know that you have at least ten ways to talk about your accomplishments. When asked a question, focus on its meaning. There s usually a word or two in the question, such as accomplishments, goals, or team, that will help you determine which success story is most appropriate. [Pg.113]

Just as you were prompted by your interviewer s questions to talk about your accomplishments, the questions you ask your interviewer will reveal information that you can use to further exhibit your skills and qualification for the job. In other words, if you use questions to discover the needs of your prospective employer, you can use your success stories, once again, to illustrate how you can satisfy those needs. Your success stories are the best proof of your accomplishments. And, as we all know, past performance is the best indicator of future performance. [Pg.120]

When you use specific examples from your past experience to illustrate your accomplishments, you are proving your claim that you do in fact have the skills for which the interviewer is looking. However, you must not be so eager to tell your success stories that you never answer the actual questions. Make sure to focus on your listening skills answer the questions and then move into your stories to present yourself in the best possible light. [Pg.128]

Exchanging Information. After you ve introduced yourself and exchanged pleasantries, you will be expected to answer questions about your background and experience. This is when you will tell success stories in order to convey a strong sense of who you are and what you are capable of accomplishing. The second mistake you can make in a panel interview is to be reactive rather than proactive. On one hand, it is important to pay attention to the questions and make sure you answer them. On the other hand, you want to maintain some control of the interview and tell some of your success stories.
