On the basis of studies performed by the author on materials best suited for fabrication of rechargeable battery cells, it is found that lithium, nickel, cadmium, polymer, zinc, spinel, and manganese are most suitable for manufacturing the rechargeable battery packs widely used in EVs and HEVs. Although zinc is widely used in the manufacturing of zinc-air fuel cells, it can also be used in the fabrication of rechargeable battery packs for EVs and HEVs. [Pg.152]

Rinmann s green, ZnCojO. A spinel formed when cobalt nitrate solution is placed on zinc oxide and the mixture heated to redness. The green colour forms a delicate test for Zn. [Pg.346]

Reaction 3 also occurs on cooling since the concentration of SO is very low at roaster temperatures of 950°C and approaches zero at 1000°C. Another important reaction that occurs during roasting is the formation of zinc ferrite, Zn0-Fe2 03 above 650°C (see Ferrites). Zinc ores contain 5—12% iron. Zinc ferrite forms soHd solutions with other spinels, such as Fe0-Fe203, and therefore the zinc—iron compositions formed are of indefinite stoichiometry. Ferritic zinc is difficult to solubilize in hydrometaHurgical leaching but several recovery processes are discussed below. [Pg.399]

Copper (Cu) and zinc (Zn), when mixed, form the alloy brass. Magnesia (MgO) and alumina (AljOj) when mixed in equal proportions form spinel. Iron (Fe) and carbon (C) mix to give carbon steel. [Pg.321]

Cobaltites with spinel stractnre have compositions MC02O4, where M is a metal forming divalent cations, snch as zinc, cadminm, magnesinm, nickel, manganese, and divalent cobalt. In contrast to the perovskites, the cobaltites have a rather high catalytic activity already at room temperatnre. Experiments show that the activity increases with increasing spinel structure content (i.e., increasing number of Co ions) of the catalyst snrface. The trivalent cobalt ions promote the withdrawal of... [Pg.545]

The spinel ferrites were fabricated by solid state reaction technique. Cobalt and Zinc ferrites CoxZnyFe204,(x=0.7,0.3,0.4,0.2 and y=0.3,0.7,0.6,0.8) were prepared by solid state reaction technique. The crystalline structure of the sample was investigated by X-ray diffraction(XRD). All samples show cubic spinel structure. The lattice parameter decreases with increasing cobalt content. Magnetic properties shows that the prepared sample exhibit ferromagnetic behaviour at room temperature. The saturation magnetization increases with increasing cobalt content. Curie temperature... [Pg.116]

Grabowska et al [112] reported methylation of 2-hydroxypyridine with methanol over hydrothermally synthesized zinc aluminate spinels. N-methyl-2-pyridone was formed selectively (95%) and 100% 2-hydroxy pyridine conversion was achieved at 340°C. During the experiment the activity of the catalyst was shown to be stable and catalyst can be regenerated repeatedly without any significant loss of activity by passing air through the catalyst bed at 500°C. [Pg.186]
