Another key decision, made in 1960, was that Delrln would be marketed worldwide. This led to the formation of a new Du Font Plastics team in Geneva, Switzerland to introduce Delrln into the European market, along with coordinated Introduction in the East Asia, South Pacific and South America markets. A product policy was that the Delrln trademark, product codes and product quality would be uniform worldwide. As a result, international end users could be confident that Delrln delivered anywhere in the world would meet the same product specifications. [Pg.109]

When IBM saw the potential for bar eodes demonstrated by RCA and the consortiiun, they remembered that Woodland had been the coinventor of the basic patent that had run out in 1969. He was transferred to an IBM plant in North Carolina where he helped develop the Universal Product Code (UPC) adopted in April 1973 which is now used throughout the world. [Pg.438]

On February 28, 1935, Carothers project succeeded beyond anyone s wildest dreams. The cheerful, lively Frenchman Berchet produced a superpolymer made from chemicals derived from cheap benzene, a by-product of coal later they would be made from petroleum. A filament teased from Berchet s polymer was, despite its lowly origins, pearly and lustrous. And when it was tested, it proved to be spinnable. Its code name was 6-6 because both its reactants—hexamethylene diamine and adipic acid—had six carbon atoms. Technically, the filament was polyhexamethylene adipamide, a long-chain polymer similar in structure to proteins. It became world-famous as nylon. [Pg.141]

Reinmuth notation. In the electrochemical world, the sequence of electrode and/or chemical reactions that occur are described by a simple shorthand code. Simple electron-transfer reactions are called E reactions. In the same shorthand system, a multiple electron-transfer reaction such as Fe " Fe " -> Fe is an EE reaction , i.e. the product of an electron-transfer process itself undergoes a second electron-transfer process. (Note that the two electron-transfer processes might occur at the same time, in which case it is merely an E reaction.) The vanadium pentoxide system illustrated in Figure 6.14 is another example of an EE system. [Pg.169]

Appearance does count, even in today s business-casual world. Make sure to ask about the dress code when you re setting up the interview. Dress in a manner that makes you feel great. You want to exude confidence and capability. Do your homework and be prepared with questions to ask about the company. Research as much as possible regarding product line, services, markets, the competition, or whatever else you can find. It s not something that everyone does, and it helps set you apart and really shows people you are interested."... [Pg.197]

For electrochemical experiments inside the box, one should be certain that there are enough electrical connections and plugs. Few if any of the commercial dry boxes will have enough of these, and they will have to be installed. Connections to the outside world are a source of leaks, and considerable care should be exercised to ensure that the connectors are well sealed. These connectors, called feed throughs, are available from vendors of vacuum-related products. By having enough connections, two or three people can work simultaneously. For example, we have installed two connectors with six contacts on each. Long color-coded wires to the connectors are recommended to avoid confusion. [Pg.576]

The Regulation requires that the control bodies in each member state allocate each of the certification bodies a unique code which must appear on the product labelling of all the operators registered with them. This is to permit any interested party anywhere in the world to trace the certification body responsible for the certification of the product, and the code should always be applied by an operator to the organic products leaving their premises. In the UK, UKROFS has designated the codes Organic Certification UK1 to UK9 to the certification bodies under its jurisdiction. [Pg.45]
