Working conditions behavior

The composition data should always be appHed to in-service performance (64,65) in order to properly evaluate the behavior of the asphaltic binder under tme working conditions. [Pg.367]

Evaluation of the Dusting Properties of Powder (or Other Solid Dyes). A number of methods exist to test this increasingly important behavior because of the greater awareness of working conditions and good industrial practice present today. [Pg.377]

Another influential theory of motivation was proposed by Herzberg et al. (1959). This theory postulates only two levels of motivation. Herzberg contrasted wages, working conditions, interpersonal relations and supervisory behavior which he called "hygiene" factors, with recognition, achievement, responsibility, and advancement which he called "motivators."... [Pg.136]

IV. A pharmacist acts with honesty and integrity in professional relationships. A pharmacist has a duty to tell the truth and to act with conviction of conscience. A pharmacist avoids discriminatory practices, behavior, or work conditions that impair professional judgment, and actions that compromise dedication to the best interests of patients. [Pg.54]

As with Pb-acid and NiMH batteries, lithium-ion batteries must be controlled during their operation to prevent that overcharging conditions might occur damaging the battery. For this reason the development of battery management systems to guarantee the correct behavior in each working condition is a key issue for this type of batteries. [Pg.152]

Another important factor in catalysis is the selectivity of a catalytic reaction. So far, however, information on the atom-by-atom evolution of this astonishing catalytic selectivity is still lacking. In this example, we illustrate such a size-dependent selectivity with the polymerization of acetylene on palladium nanocatalysts [46]. This reaction over supported Pd particles reveals a direct correspondence between reactivities observed on model systems and the behavior of industrial catalysts under working conditions [66]. In ultra-high vacuum (UHV) [67] as well as under high pressure, large palladium particles of typically thousands of atoms show an increased selectivity for the formation of benzene with increasing particle size [66]. In contrast, small palladium particles of typically hundreds of atoms are less selective for the cyclotrimerization, and catalyze butadiene and butene as additional products [66]. [Pg.12]

By chosing suitable working conditions, a selective behavior of various complexes can be reached so that in the course of one analysis some complexes decompose while the others migrate isotachophoretically. [Pg.164]

Pharmacokinetic data may be used for comparing the behavior of a dermally delivered dose (tissue levels) to one delivered by another route (i.e., oral and inhalation). Evaluations of this nature are vitally needed because most data on adverse health effects such as cholinesterase inhibition, neurotoxicity, teratogenicity and reproductive effects are generated using the oral route and use of this data may lead to wrong conclusions (22) concerning "safe" working conditions. [Pg.78]

Psychological disorders related to working conditions include sleep disturbances, mood disturbances, reduced motivation to work or recreate, somatic and psychosomatic compleiints, neuroses, psychoses, and dysfunctional coping behavior. The effects of stress on an individual are influenced by the nature of the exposures and the individual s physical and psychological characteristics and coping behaviors that may accentuate or mitigate the exposure. [Pg.1170]

Unpredictability. Violations are random events, it is impossible to predict. Mine is a special work environment, different working conditions and working environment, different types, different workplaces may occur unsafe behavior, leading to accidents. [Pg.1152]

A positive, proactive safety culture recognizes the fact that accidents and other downgrading events are caused by a sequence of events that can be interrupted and the accident prevented. Risk assessment will help predict potential loss events. This requires a culture wherein high-risk workplace conditions are not tolerated and high-risk behaviors are not condoned or accepted. This, after all, should be the object of a positive safety culture—safe working conditions and safe work behaviors. [Pg.37]

Coordinate with the relevant manager of the contractors to ensure that inspections of work conditions and behavior are done and that precommis-sioning/preacceptance inspections are carried out. [Pg.155]

Zidhuis, RL., Standards setting for work conditions as risky behavior, in Standard Setting, Grandjean,... [Pg.371]

Safety is predictable — If an unsafe behavior is not changed, or an unsafe work condition is not corrected, eventually an accident or injury will occur. However, if the unsafe behavior is confronted and changed to a safe one, and if the unsafe work condition is eliminated or modified, an accident or injury is far less likely to happen. [Pg.658]
