Wheels Applicators

Dynamic heat buildup in applications such as wheels is important. Polyurethanes with a high resilience or a low tan 8 in the operating range are important. Polyurethane elastomers used in wheel applications can be evaluated using a test rig where the urethane can be run under load for a fixed period or until failure. [Pg.187]

The gravure applicator wheel is the most important individual component on an edge-bander. Adhesive transfer to the substrate takes place when the substrate comes into contact with the gravure wheel applicator, which should rotate at the same speed as the... [Pg.734]

The single most important component on an edgebander is the gravure wheel applicator. All other components of the machine support the performance of the gravure wheel applicator. It is the gravure wheel appKcation that controls the amount of hot-melt adhesive that is applied to the substrates, which, in turn, determines the number of calories of heat present to keep the hot-melt liquid untU the time of bond formation. [Pg.735]

Today s coated abrasives have advanced from a simple smoothing and polishing function to complex heavy stock removals where rates of 5-7 in. /min per linear inch of belt width are not uncommon, thus rivaling traditional grinding wheel applications. Since modem backing designs have been improved to keep pace with advancements made in abrasive materials, coated abrasives are now able to compete effectively in some of today s most demanding abrasive applications. [Pg.671]

Recently, composite wheels have become popular. While composite wheels may eliminate the use of spokes, they are costly and do not necessarily reduce the weight of the wheel or the energy necessary to initiate revolution. As a result, composite wheels do not always provide an adequate alternative to wheel covers as they may not be readily applicable to all uses in which spoke wheels may be found. Traditional spoke wheels are still the predominant wheel system for most two-wheeled vehicles. [Pg.28]

The present invention provides a wheel cover which improves the aerodynamic properties of the hub-rim-spoke wheels. The wheel cover of the present invention is preferably made of a light weight synthetic or natural polymer, fabric or paper film which is adhesively applied to a wheel through simple manual application. In turn, the aerodynamic wheel cover of the present invention may also be easily removed and replaced to allow on-road repairs of spoke, hub, or rim. [Pg.28]

A286 Alloy. A286 is an austenitic iron base alloy that has been used for years in aircraft engine applications. Its use for industrial gas turbines started about 1965, when technological advances made the production of sound ingots sufficient in size to produce these wheels possible. [Pg.427]

The methacrylic polymer remains a useful glazing material. In aircraft applications it is used extensively on aircraft which fly at speeds less than Mach 1.0. They form the familar bubble body of many helicopters. On land, acrylic sheet is useful for coach roof lights, motor cycle windscreens and in do-it yourself cabins for tractors and earth-moving equipment. Injection mouldings are frequently used for plaques on the centre of steering wheels and on some fascia panelling. [Pg.412]

Applications include flow meter parts, transparent housing for electrical equipment, sight glasses. X-ray apparatus windows, gear wheels, racks, counters and containers for solvents. [Pg.510]

Amongst the many other applications for acetal resins should be mentioned links in conveyor belts, moulded sprockets and chains, blower wheels, cams, fan blades, check valves, pump impellers, carburettor bodies, blow-moulded aerosol containers and plumbing components such as valve stems and shower heads. [Pg.545]

Polyamide PPOs are manufactured by General Electric (Noryl GTX), BASF having now withdrawn from marketing their product (Ultranyl). Usage of the blends has so far been mainly in the automobile field for such applications as valance panels, wheel trims, grilles, rear quarter panels, front bumpers and tailgates. [Pg.592]

In 1997 it was reported that carbon-fibre reinforced PEEK had replaced aluminium in the fuel pump suction manifold of the Airbus. For this application the product has to withstand pressure thrusts of up to 30 bar and resist kerosene at operating temperatures in the range 40-200°C. The ventilation wheel for cooling the electric motor in the same application has also been converted from aluminium to PEEK. [Pg.606]

Cellulose acetate-propionate (Tenite Propionate-Kodak) is similar to cellulose propionate. With the shorter side chains, cellulose propionate and cellulose acetate propionate tend to be harder, stiffer and of higher tensile strength than CAB. Like CAB they are easy to vacuum form and also tend to be used for similar applications such as steering wheels, tool handles, safety goggles and blister packs. [Pg.628]
