Motor cycles

The methacrylic polymer remains a useful glazing material. In aircraft applications it is used extensively on aircraft which fly at speeds less than Mach 1.0. They form the familar bubble body of many helicopters. On land, acrylic sheet is useful for coach roof lights, motor cycle windscreens and in do-it yourself cabins for tractors and earth-moving equipment. Injection mouldings are frequently used for plaques on the centre of steering wheels and on some fascia panelling. 

They are resistant to solvents except chlorinated hydrocarbons, esters and ketones. They are used in boat hulls, lorry cabs, car bodies, caravans, roofing panels, tea trays, insulation plates, motor cycle, side cars, chairs, fishing rods, sinks, suit cases and in chemical plant. 

Motor Cycling. One- or two-piece protective suits normally are made from fabric-supported flexible vinyl or from polyurethane materials. A typical garment would be sewn but with welds over the seams to ensure that it is waterproof. With polyurethane, welding alone often is quite satisfactory. In some parts of the garments, patches are over-welded as re-inforcement.

Cells with the electrolyte gelled by the addition of sodium silicate or sulphuric acid absorbed into a felted glass-fibre mat or thick paper have been manufactured for many years such cells avoided the hazards of acid spillage and were sold mainly for aircraft or motor cycles. Now, cylindrical lead-acid cells, typical capacity 2 A h and without free electrolyte, are produced to compete with small Ni-Cd and primary cells for the consumer market. Molds for flexible, PUR integral skin foams are required in the production of motor cycle seats, sun visors, and simple seat upholstery. These large molds usually consist of two parts. For suitable venting, molds for annular headrests require auxiliary parting planes that can be mounted with hinges on one of the mold halves.
