Weighting, multicenter trials

Tacrolimus, a macrolide derivative, has similar immunosuppressive properties to ciclosporin and has effects on T lymphocytes by inhibiting interleukin-2 production. On a weight basis, tacrolimus is about 100 times more potent than ciclosporin. In view of the outcome of several multicenter trials, it has been used as an alternative to ciclosporin as a baseline regimen for the prophylaxis of renal and liver transplant rejection and in the treatment of acute rejection (SED-13,1130) (SEDA-21, 390) (1). The clinical pharmacology, clinical use, and adverse effects profile of tacrolimus in organ transplantation have been extensively reviewed (2). 

Whole milk is composed of both whey and casein proteins and has been shown to be better at supporting muscle PS acutely compared to hydrolyzed soy protein. Milk ingestion has also been associated with lower blood pressure and a reduced risk of hypertension. Recently, increased intake of dairy products such as milk and yogurt has been shown to enhance weight loss. However, the proposed mechanism that was shown to exist in animal models does not seem to transfer to humans. Thus, the mechanism for the associated weight loss appears to be calcium independent, " at least when calcium intake is adequate. In a multicenter trial, milk intake without weight loss did not ehdt favorable changes in metabolic outcomes. 

In a 20-week multicenter intervention trial with lutein in healthy human subjects, no changes were noted in hematological or biochemical parameters after continuous daily lutein doses of 15 mg (0.25 mg/kg body weight, assuming a body weight of 60 kg). A relatively large number of human studies have examined correlations between macular degeneration and dietary intake of lutein or zeaxanthin, intakes via dietary supplements, and serum concentrations.
