Water removal systems

This exercise illustrates the importance of an efficient water removal system. No other factor plays as important a pan in dilution water savings as does the lower level of dehydration. [Pg.152]

The catalysts and electrode materials used in PAFCs are also similar to those in acidic H2/air fuel cells. Carbon-supported Pt is used as the catalyst at both anode and cathode, porous carbon paper serves as the electrode substrate, and graphite carbon forms the bipolar plates. Since a liquid electrolyte is used, an efficient water removal system is extremely important. Otherwise, the liquid electrolyte is easily lost with the removed water. An electrolyte matrix is needed to support the liquid phosphoric acid. In general, a Teflon -bonded silicon carbide is used as the matrix. [Pg.13]

In the absence of components affected by water, the need for water removal systems in PT analysis would never have arisen. However, the increased use of mass spectrometry... [Pg.98]

A permanent CEMS and a portable handheld unit Enerac 2000 were used in these experiments. The CEMS is a permanently installed sampling system for monitoring the exhaust gas composition at the exit of the furnace. It consists of a water-cooled stainless steel probe, heat-traced transport lines, water removal system, and gas analyzers. NO is measured with a chemiluminescent and... [Pg.171]

The pool water make-up system shaU be designed to provide water at a rate exceeding the maximum rate of water removal possible as a consequence of losses during operation, including removal of water via the pool water removal system. Conversely, pool water removal (and cleanup) systems shall have capacities less than those of the pool water make-iq> systems. [Pg.15]

The purpose of the contaminated water removal and disposal system (CWRDS), i.e., the sump water removal system, is to remove and retain the emergency coolant or cooling water following a design basis loss of coolant accident (LOCA) or seismic event. This system operates in conjunction with the Airborne Activity Confinement System (AACS) to control the release of liquid and airborne contaminants. [Pg.278]

WSRC shall verify that operation of the sump water removal system during DBA conditions shall not result in whole body and thyroid dose exposure exceeding Title 10 of the Code of Federal Regulations (CFR), Part 100 siting criteria. The analysis should be based on 100 percent of the reactor heavy water inventory reaching the retention basin following the DBA. [Pg.279]

ROMP Item SE-6.6 is the primary vehicle that addresses the restart criteria for this SER section. The ROMP committed to delivery of a technical position paper that will address the adequacy of the system s design based on expected leak rates. This position paper has not been issued for review. However, based on the above information, it appears that the Water Removal System will be shown to be adequate to prevent flooding of the DC motors during the worst possible PW LOCA event, if the decision and execution to throttle ECS flow is made at the appropriate time. This issue is an open item. [Pg.282]

The safety functions of the sump water removal system will be tested prior to restart per the Restart Test Program. Testing requirements are identified in... [Pg.283]
