Water-proofing agents

These equilibrated silicone oils have valuable properties they are very stable to heat and oxidation, they have good electrical properties, and are water-repellent. They find application as vacuum oils and greases, water-proofing agents, and paint media. [Pg.802]

If this liquid explosive is employed for land casting applications, a 0.5-3 % Guartec503 water-proof agent or Oxirane resin can be added to prevent explosives from being soaked due to moisture, which often lead to failed blasting (Guartec503 is a water-proof agent). [Pg.332]

Aluminum soaps n. Aluminum compounds of fatty acids and naphthenic acid, etc. These materials are soluble generally in paint vehicles and thinners, and are employed as thickening, flatting, and water proofing agents. [Pg.47]

FTS is also used as a component in more complex structures (e.g., in water proofing agents) and as a substitute for perfluorooctane sulphonate (PFOS). [Pg.27]

The epidermis contains substantial amounts of various lipid substances which may play an important part in building up the keratin structure and maintaining the integrity of epithelial tissues. It would seem likely that lipids also act as lubricants and water-proofing agents. Skin cells often have incomplete sets of enzymes for cholesterol synthesis and, in the human epidermis, the synthesis goes as far as 7-dehydrocholesterol but does not reach cholesterol. [Pg.404]

Is a 20% dihydroxy-dichloro-diphenyl methane. This emulsion type product is cationic in nature and is compatible with alum-inum/wax type water repellent material. This permits the single bath application of a water repellent and a mildew-proofing agent. EPA 6009-8... [Pg.284]

Is a mildew-proofing wax, applicable from a solvent system and will impart onto fabrics water water repellency as well as mildew-proofing protection. This product contains some 17% of the G-4 type mildew-proofing agent compounded with various waxes and plasticizers. EPA 6009-3... [Pg.284]

Combination of a polyvinyl dispersion with a water-repellent agent, slip proof finish of glass fabrics for asphalted roof paper. [Pg.594]

Until recently, most silicone gels provided inadequate adhesion to coated or encapsulated parts. Modern silicone encapsulants and coatings contain, however, silane "coupling agents", which are able to form a permanent water proof covalent bond to most substrates and therefore avoid failure associated with loss of adhesion to the substrate. [Pg.266]

USE For raising mp of ointments. Manuf paraffin paper and candles (so-called wax paper or candies) for fixing drawings, etc., on muslin water-proofing wood, cork, paper, leather manuf varnishes to render wooden vessels impermeable to Water or alcohol in lubricants to cover food products in floor polishes, cosmetics, electrical insulators for extracting perfumes from flowers. Pharmaceutic aid (stiffen -mg agent). [Pg.1111]

USE Manuf varnishes, varnish and paint driers, printing inks, cements, soap, sealing wax. wood polishes, floor coverings, paper, plasties, fireworks, tree wax, sizes, rosin oil for water-proofing cardboard, walls, etc. Pharmaceutic aid (stiffening agent)... [Pg.1314]

Dryol . [Synthton] Water repellent wa-t proofing agent fluorochemical extender. [Pg.113]

OTHER COMMENTS used in cosmetic and pharmaceutical powders and ointments useful as an agent for water-proofing concrete, rock, wool, paper and textiles other uses include a drying lubricant, lacquers, dusting powder, tablet manufacture, dietary supplements, and a heat... [Pg.996]

Bitumen is a viscous liquid, or a solid, which consists largely of hydrocarbons and their derivatives. It softens gradually on heating and is essentially non-volatile. It occurs naturally as bitumen and, in conjunction with mineral matter, as asphalt. It is also produced as a by-product of petroleum refining. It is used as a water-proofing and binding agent. [Pg.405]

Urea (carbamide), CO(NH2)2, is composed of white crystals or powder, almost odorless, with a saline taste. It is soluble in water and decomposes before reaching its boiling point. Urea is noncombustible. The primary uses of urea are in fertilizers, animal feed, plastics, cosmetics, flame-proofing agents, pharmaceuticals, and as a stabilizer in explosives. Urea appears to be both a ketone and an amine by structure and molecular formula however, it is neither, nor does it have any of the characteristics of either family. The structure and molecular formula are shown in Figure 11.3. [Pg.381]
