Variational RRKM calculations, as described above, show that a imimolecular dissociation reaction may have two variational transition states [32, 31, 34, 31 and 36], i.e. one that is a tight vibrator type and another that is a loose rotator type. Wliether a particular reaction has both of these variational transition states, at a particular energy, depends on the properties of the reaction s potential energy surface [33, 34 and 31]- For many dissociation reactions there is only one variational transition state, which smoothly changes from a loose rotator type to a tight vibrator type as the energy is increased [26],... [Pg.1017]

The feed-preparation screen between crusher and separately vessel may be of either the revolving or the vibrating type. Wash water is apphed only to the feed end ofthe screen so that the process feed will enter the separator moist but without any free water, which would lower pulp density. In a few instances it has been found advantageous to provide for surge storage between screen and separator to drain off further excess water. [Pg.1788]

While being very similar in the general description, the RLT and electron-transfer processes differ in the vibration types they involve. In the first case, those are the high-frequency intramolecular modes, while in the second case the major role is played by the continuous spectrum of polarization phonons in condensed 3D media [Dogonadze and Kuznetsov 1975]. The localization effects mentioned in the previous section, connected with the low-frequency part of the phonon spectrum, still do not show up in electron-transfer reactions because of the asymmetry of the potential. [Pg.29]

The rotating type may be driven from either the top or the bottom whilst the vibrating type is always driven from the top. The removal of the tank head cover from top driven filters is generally more complex than those driven from the bottom. On the other hand bottom driven filters are more susceptible to slurry leaks. The position of the cake outlet depends on the construction of the tank bottom. There are two types available ... [Pg.194]

As we have seen, the expressions for the rate constant obtained for different models describing the lattice vibrations of a solid are considerably different. At the same time in a real situation the reaction rate is affected by different vibration types. In low-temperature solid-state chemical reactions one of the reactants, as a rule, differs significantly from the molecules of the medium in mass and in the value of interaction with the medium. Consequently, an active particle involved in reaction behaves as a point defect (in terms of its effect on the spectrum and vibration dynamics of a crystal lattice). Such a situation occurs, for instance, in irradiated molecular crystals where radicals (defects) are formed due to irradiation. Since a defect is one of the reactants and thus lattice regularity breakdown is within the reaction zone, the defect of a solid should be accounted for even in cases where the total number of radiation (or other) defects is small. [Pg.399]

When charging, the batch should be spread over the melt surface to ensure rapid heating. With large-capacity furnaces, the batch is fed by various chargers, for example of the worm, piston or vibration type. The rate of charging is controlled automatically by the level controller. [Pg.286]

Using external vibrators The effectiveness of external vibrators to collapse a stable rathole would need to be assessed via full-scale trials prior to installation, since vibration may actually increase the strength on the blend in the bin and the likelihood of racholing. Trials would be required to assess the optimum vibrator type (high-frequency/low-amplitude vs. low-frequency/high-amplitude), number of vibrators required, location, frequency settings, etc. [Pg.113]

Continuous plug-flow beds of stationary as well as vibrating type may benefit strongW from use of the gill-type fluid-bed plates with the capacity for controlling the movement of powder along the plate and around bends and corners created by baffles. Proper use of these means may make it possible to optimize the combination of fluidization velocity, bed layer height, and powder residence time. [Pg.1407]

Table 9.1 summarizes the features of the four vibration types. The last three types only change the bond angles, but do not stretch bonds. The torsion vibration can be considered as a special type of bending vibration as illustrated in Table 9.1. Thus, we can simply say that a vibration is either the stretching or the bending type, y and r only occur in molecules that have at least three bonds. Generally, the vibration frequency varies with vibration type. The frequency decreases with increasing number of bonds involved. Special types of vibrations may occur in a larger molecule like in a polymer however, they all can be derived from these four basic types.
