The stability of moisture-sensitive drugs has been studied by Vromans and Schalks [1.143] using amorphous vecuronium bromide. Its decomposition in a formulation depends more on the water activity aw (see Chapter 4, point 2) than on the water content. Glass-forming excipients may not only be cryoprotective but also stabilizing. [Pg.117]

Vecuronium bromide (Norcuron) is chemically identical to pancuronium except for a tertiary amine in place of a quaternary nitrogen. However, some of the drug will exist as the bisquatemary compound, depending on body pH. Vecuronium has a moderate onset of action (2.4 minutes) and a duration of effect of about 50 minutes. Like pancuronium, it does not block ganglia or vagal neuroeffector junctions, does not release histamine, and is eliminated by urinary excretion. [Pg.343]

Frusemide is physically incompatible with diltiazem hydrochloride, dobutamine hydrochloride, dopamine hydrochloride, labetalol hydrochloride, midazolam hydrochloride, milrinone lactate, nicardipine hydrochloride, parenteral nutrient solutions, cisatracurium besylate, and vecuronium bromide. [Pg.348]

The neuromuscular blocking effects of vecuronium bromide can be enhanced by inhalation anesthetics. [Pg.1921]

Symptoms suggestive of severe sensorimotor neuropathy developed in a 40-year-old woman 15 days after admission for a severe exacerbation of asthma (7). During this time she was given isoflurane 0.5-3% in oxygen, vecuronium bromide 4-6 mg/hour, and fentanyl 100 micrograms/hour. The neuropathy resolved spontaneously over the next 3 months. [Pg.1921]
