Valves extrusion process

For example, if a two-stage vented extruder has a screw that was designed for resins with an Mi range of 2 to 20 dg/min, and plant personnel are asked to manufacture a resin with an MI of 100 dg/min, the extruder may not process the resin acceptably. For this case and flood feeding, the extruder is likely to have resin flowing into the vent because the first stage can deliver more resin than the second stage can pump. One practical solution to this problem is to operate the slide valve in a partially open manner such that it controls the rate of the extrusion process. This will allow the extruder to operate at a lower specific rate and allow operation without the flow of resin into the vent. [Pg.673]

The twin-screw injection molding extruder is an injection molding machine that is capable of both blending/compounding and extrusion in one step. Because it is a one step process, the fibers never go through the entire extrusion process as well as the pelletization that limits the fiber size, but are blended into the molten plastic before injection. The screw part of this machine is based on a non-intermeshing, counterrotating twin-screw extruder (Chapter 5). One of the screws in this machine is capable of axial movement and has a non-return valve on the end. This action enables the screw to inject and mold parts. [Pg.510]

After this, the obtained suspension was processed in a homoge-nizer (Emulsiflex-C5, Avestin Inc., Ottawa) operated at a pressure at the homogenization valve of 300 kPa. The particle size was 230 nm after a homogenization period of 30 minutes. The final process step was extrusion using polycarbonate membrane Alters with a pore size of 100 nm installed in the... [Pg.211]

Processing PCTFE is by the conventional methods (extrusion, injection, etc.) processing temperatures are high, and any degradation of PCTFE can cause severe corrosion and environmental problems. Applications include wire and cable insulation, electronic flexible printed circuits, packaging material (transparent film and sheet), pharmaceutical industry in particular strip and blister packs for tablets and capsules, etc. In the chemical industry, used as gaskets, 0-rings, valve seats, chemical tank liners, etc. [Pg.75]

Most thermoplastic processes utilized for HIPS applications use a single screw to melt and pressurize the polymer. Screw extruders in industry used with HIPS can have screw diameters from 20 to 200 mm and can melt process over 2000 kg/h. Two-stage, vented screw designs are predominantly used for extrusion of HIPS, whereas single-stage reciprocating screws, with a nonreturn valve, are common in the HIPS injection molding process. [Pg.271]

The resins maybe processed without difficulty on conventional injection-molding, blow-molding, and extrusion equipment. The acetal resins are used widely in the molding of telephone components, radios, small appliances, links in conveyor belts, molded sprockets and chains, pump housings, pump impellers, carburetor bodies, blower wheels, cams, fan blades, check values, and plumbing components such as valve stems and shower heads. [Pg.488]
