While the V-groove devices which appeared in the late seventies looked set to find an important place in the market, particularly in the area of high frequency power conversion, the overall dominance of the power bipolar transistor did not seem seriously threatened. However, when the more easily manufacturable vertical DMOS devices appeared in volume in 1978, the scene was set for a revolution. [26]... [Pg.163]

FIGURE 8.6. Self-assembly of spherical colloids in V-shaped grooves (A) a schematic illustration showing the formation of a helical structure and (B-D) SEM images depicting three typical chain-like aggregates assembled in 2D arrays of V-grooves that had W = 2.72 pm. The polystyrene beads were 1.0, 1.6, and 0.8 pm in diameter, respectively. Helical structures only formed at an appropriate ratio between W and d. The arrow in (D) indicates a defect, where one can clearly see the colloids underneath the top layer of the structure. [Pg.198]

C-C )- But if the channel is perpendicular to the wafer flat (D-D ), a V-groove cross section will result due to the slanted <111> planes that define the stop-etch conditions [84]. [Pg.4]

In JP-A-62036858 reflectors are provided in V-grooves which separate individual detector elements. The amount of cross-talk between adjacent detector elements is thereby reduced. [Pg.130]

Suspensions were pretreated by soni-cation for 2D4 min. After sonication, the samples were diluted to 10 mL with water. Aerosols, produced from suspensions by the V-groove nebulizer, were immediately carried on by the Ar plasma support gas through the spray chamber into the plasma... [Pg.37]

As discussed previously, several solar photoreactor geometries can be reduced to cylindrical glass tubes externally illuminated by different types of reflectors, like parabolic troughs, CPC, V-grooves, or without reflector, directly illuminated by the sun. In this section the general solution of the PI approximation for this t)q5e of photo reactors is reported. This general solution is applicable to any particular reactor if the flux distribution impinging on the wall of the tubular reaction space is known. [Pg.215]

For many years pneumatic nebulizers of the V-groove, Meinhard and cross-flow type have been the most widely used sample insertion devices for aerosol generation. The interaction geometry between the gas and liquid sample streams allows pneumatic nebulizers to be classified into two major groups, namely (a) pneumatic concentric nebulizers, which involve concentric interaction and (b) cross-flow nebulizers, which involve perpendicular interaction between the liquid and gas streams. Pneumatic nebulizers are well established and widely used on account of their simplicity, robustness, ease of use and low cost however, they provide low transport efficiency and tend to be clogged by high salt-content solutions [4]. [Pg.256]

Dukovic and Tobias [58] performed a simulation of leveling in a V groove profiles for Watts nickel plating with added coumarin, as investigated experimentally by Kruglikov et al. [59]. It was reasoned that inhibitors described by the diffusion theory of leveling [60, 61] could be assumed to operate under diffusion control and that the overpotential should be a function of current density md inhibitor flux.
