Underfill

Second, when filling a pipet or volumetric flask, set the liquid s level exactly at the calibration mark. The liquid s top surface is curved into a meniscus, the bottom of which should be exactly even with the glassware s calibration mark (Figure 2.6). The meniscus should be adjusted with the calibration mark at eye level to avoid parallax errors. If your eye level is above the calibration mark the pipet or volumetric flask will be overfilled. The pipet or volumetric flask will be underfilled if your eye level is below the calibration mark. [Pg.29]

The no marketing proviso for seriously underfilled units forces the filler to either systematically overfill as foreseen in the regulations or to install check-balances or other devices to actively control a high percentage (ideally 100%) of the containers and either discard or recycle under-filled ones. [Pg.241]

The impellers of pumps covered by this clause shall not be modified after test to correct hydraulic performance by underfiling, overfiling, or V cutting without notifying the purchaser prior to shipment. Any such modifications shall be documented in accordance with 9.3.4.1. [Pg.30]

Color Color of the solution should be as spedhed in the MFM. Volume variation empty, underfilled, or overhlled ampoules/vials should be removed by visual comparison to a correctly hlled ampoule/vial. [Pg.820]

This is the presence of excess fluid in the peritoneal cavity, leading to a swollen abdomen (Figure 4.3). The accumulation of ascitic fluid represents a state of sodimn excess in the body. Patients often present with hyponatraemia, but this is thought to be due to the dilutional effect of excess water rather than to low sodium. There are three theories of the cause of ascites formation. The underfill theory suggests that there is a reduction in circulating plasma volume as a result of accumulation in the splanchnic area due to vascular dilatation in portal hypertension. This activates the plasma renin, aldosterone and sympathetic nervous systems, which leads to sodium and water retention by the kidneys. [Pg.91]

The rate of flow of flux is radiant or luminous energy expressed in watt-seconds or lumen-seconds, respectively, in measuring power, the total flux must be captured by the photodetector effectively, underfilling it, as illustrated in Figure 3. [Pg.166]

To explain the complex mechanisms of ascites formation, four hypotheses have been developed in the light of experimental and clinical findings (i.) underfill theory, (2.) overflow theory, (5.) lymph imbalance theory, and 4.) vasodilation theory, (s. fig. 16.6)... [Pg.294]

Underfill theory According to the underfill theory (S. Sherlock et al., 1963), the development of ascites is set off by mechanical factors and physical mechanisms ( imbalance of the Starling forces ). As a result, the effective plasma volume is reduced (so-called volume deficiency concept). [Pg.294]

Lymph imbalance theory The lymph imbalance theory (C.L. Witte et al., 1980) (16) contradicts the classical concepts of underfill and overflow. This theory is based... [Pg.294]

Hyperdynamic circulation has a close correlation to portal hypertension, which results in (i.) reduction in vascular resistance and (2.) vasodilation of the splanchnic arteries and arterioles with increased blood volume in this vascular system. This leads to underfilling of the... [Pg.738]

Equations (3.6) and (3.7) may be applied to the underfilled and overfilled cases, provided care is used in defining Aq and A. Eor the underfilled case,... [Pg.42]

Although Fsm and differ only in the use of Po vs. Po, this difference can lead to important consequences. is easier to measure since At need not be known. Most spectroscopists record Pq and so is easily determined. For an underfilled spectrometer (Ad = will be independent... [Pg.67]
