Ultrasonic processes insertion

In ICP-AES and ICP-MS, sample mineralisation is the Achilles heel. Sample introduction systems for ICP-AES are numerous gas-phase introduction, pneumatic nebulisation (PN), direct-injection nebulisation (DIN), thermal spray, ultrasonic nebulisation (USN), electrothermal vaporisation (ETV) (furnace, cup, filament), hydride generation, electroerosion, laser ablation and direct sample insertion. Atomisation is an essential process in many fields where a dispersion of liquid particles in a gas is required. Pneumatic nebulisation is most commonly used in conjunction with a spray chamber that serves as a droplet separator, allowing droplets with average diameters of typically <10 xm to pass and enter the ICP. Spray chambers, which reduce solvent load and deal with coarse aerosols, should be as small as possible (micro-nebulisation [177]). Direct injection in the plasma torch is feasible [178]. Ultrasonic atomisers are designed to specifically operate from a vibrational energy source [179]. [Pg.619]

Ultrasonic Flowmeters. Ultrasonic methods have been used to measure flow velocity and concentration in slurry pipelines (22) and emulsion pipelines (65). There are three methods of ultrasonic flow meter applications transmission of ultrasonic wave, beam deflection, and frequency shift method (22). The frequency shift method (the ultrasonic Doppler flowmeter) consists of a transducer and an electronic control box. The transducer is either clamped on the outside of the pipe or inserted into the pipe so that it is flush with the inside of the pipe wall. The transducer comprises the sensors to transmit and receive the Doppler signal. These sensors are either in a single transducer or in two separate transducers. The control box processes transmitted and received signals (Figure 25). [Pg.216]

One of the main advantages of reaction calorimetry on the larger scale is the possibility of inserting into the reactor special analytical probes for on-line measurements. Some preliminary results obtained by coupling an ultrasonic sensor with calorimetry are presented in Fig. 5.17. The sensor is directly inserted into the reactor, its contribution in terms of heat accumulation having been previously determined so that the calorimetric signal is only related to the chemical reaction and process. At the moment, only the sound wave measurement is compared to the... [Pg.100]

Ultrasonic vibrations are transmitted through the insert by the use of a standard ultrasonic welding horn. The heat which results from this action allows the insert to be fused into the hole. Care must be taken when deciding upon this process to ensure that wall thicknesses are sufficient to... [Pg.35]

The assembly process described above using the press is not necessary in case non-traditional or plastic materials are to be used. For such materials, the cut panel takes a different path towards an ultrasonic welding machine for Inserting a joining strip that will connect the panel to the floor and roof systems In the main assembly line. [Pg.67]

Threaded inserts are inserted via a variety of methods molded in during injection molding process, ultrasonic insertion, threaded, and thermal insertion. There are essentially two types of threaded inserts, those that maintain their shape and those that expand as the screw is driven into the insert. [Pg.279]
