Research findings announced by the UK Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food on 18 January 1995 have shown that unexpectedly high residues of OP insecticides occur in some carrots, exceeding MRLs in some cases. 

The Englyst procedure has been the subject of a series of international collaborative trials organized by the UK Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food (MAFF). In the MAFF FV study, 37 laboratories from 11 countries compared the accuracy and precision of the Englyst GC and colorimetric proce-diures. This has culminated in the publication of the GC and the colorimetry techniques as MAFF Approved Methods. 

These estimates are in line with the most recent UK Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food (MAFF) investigations [13] which give the DEHP dietary intake as 2.5pg/kg body weight (mean) and 5.0gg/kg body weight (max).
