Note. Prepare the reagent by shaking vigorously 4.0 g of triphenyltin chloride with 200 mL of 95 per cent ethanol. Filter any undissolved residue and dilute with an equal volume of 95 per cent ethanol. 

Filgueiras and coworkers222 prepared the complex of a disulphoxide with triphenyltin chloride. The complex is a 2 1 adduct with two Ph3SnCl units whose Sn atoms occupy the centre of the two trigonal bipyramids, as shown in Scheme 17. 

Likewise, triphenyltin hydride reacts with ethylzinc chloride, or triphenyltin chloride with metallic zinc, to give the compound PhaSnZnCl, which is stable in the presence of a strongly coordinating ligand, but, in its absence, apparently undergoes an intermetallic shift of the organic group, so that protic acids react to liberate benzene (272). 

Temperature programming packed-capillary and open capillary HTLC-ICP-MS (up to 200 °C) has been reported [738]. //.HTLC-ICP-MS instrumental coupling has been applied to organotin (tetraethyltin, tributyltin chloride and triphenyltin chloride) and organolead (tetramethyllead and tetraethyllead) compounds [756]. Spiking recoveries by the above procedure carried out on standard solutions of triphenyltin chloride in various types of water ranged from 74% at the 4 xg/l tin level (relative sd 8.9%) to 93.6% at the 2 mg/1 tin level (relative sd 4.2%).

Haloarenes have been found to undergo nucleopilic substitution when irradiated with the triphenyl stannyl anion46, reacting via a radical S l mechanism. In many cases the reaction will only occur under photochemical conditions. The reaction is found to proceed with chloro- and bromo-substituted arenes, but not iodo-compounds. The anion is produced either by treatment of triphenyltin chloride or hexaphenylditin with sodium metal in liquid ammonia, and will react with a wide variety of arenes (reaction 30).

Bis(tributyltin)oxide in antifouling paint was found to change to tributyltin chloride and an unknown organotin species by Allen and coworkers106. The organotin species appear to be held strongly within the paint film. In the case of triphenyltin chloride and triphenyltin acetate, evidence of dephenylation to form diphenyltin and monophenyltin compounds has been obtained.

The number of organic substituents also influences interaction with lipid bilayers. Diphenyltin chloride causes disturbances of the hydrophobic region of the lipid bilayer, triphenyltin chloride adsorbs to the head-group region, and tetraphenyltin does not partition into the lipid bilayer [235-237]. Similar results were found for the butylated tins [238]. In addition, the mono-butyltin was homogeneously distributed within the lipid bilayer [238].

Allyltriphenyltin can also be prepared by using the reaction of preformed allylmagnesium bromide with triphenyltin chloride.2 However, the submitters prefer the simpler procedure described above for large-scale preparations of allyltin compounds.
