Hence, catalysis may be considered as an enabling technology for this transition and, for this reason, it is necessary to better understand the limitations and possibilities in this field. We need to define future necessary directions of R D and the needs of fundamental and applied knowledge. In other words, there is the need to develop a roadmap for catalytic processes based on renewable feedstock. This book aims to provide an overview of the current state-of-the-art on which such a research agenda can be based. 

The scientific issues indicated earlier are presently addressed in a five-year focussed research program sponsored by ONR. A research roadmap has been formulated with the participation of several U.S. universities, industry, and international research organizations. The scientific research areas addressed and the knowledge (transition elements to technology) expected from this program to help the development community in their PDE efforts are shown in Fig. 30.7. 

Alternatives to conventional photolithography will enable both reduction in cost and complexity for large-area electronics fabrication and will also help enable a transition from rigid substrates to flexible platforms. The transition towards roll-to-roll processing of flexible electronics may be required to follow the roadmap for low-cost large-area electronics. 

An international dispersion of world product mandates is a challenge to multinational firms with traditional centric or polycentric organisations. However, it is neither the task of this thesis to formulate a lead market organisation in detail nor to present a roadmap for the organisational transition towards it. There is certainly much further research to be done in order to elaborate the management of a lead market oriented R D network. At this point, only a brief note should draw attention to this field of research important for the successful implementation of a lead market strategy. 

Transition and Cutover Plans should be tracked and monitored to ensure that aU activities satisfy the stakeholder needs, and the Transition and Cutover Report should include a roadmap to rectify any problems that arise during this process. Transition and Cutover must be complete before the Operations Process may begin.
