For collision data the track reconstruction was performed using the CTF algorithm (see Sect. 2.2.4) and the tracking detectors had been aligned based on the same procedure as described in [5]. [Pg.78]

Tracks with a minimum transverse momentum of pj 0.3 GeV and a pseudorapidity of -2.5 r] 2.5 were selected and the quality cuts listed in Table4.4 were applied. The performance of the track reconstruction for the data is compared to the MC simulation. In Fig. 5.2 the distribution of the track multiplicity and the track transverse momentum, pseudorapidity and azimuthal angle are shown. While the shape of the transverse momentum spectrum in data is well described by MC, the disagreement between data and simulation in track multiplicity and track pseudorapidity is due to an imperfect D6T tuning as discussed in [6]. In addition to NAA, neutrons are widely used in prompt radiation analysis for the determination of concentration and spatial distribution of elements in different matrices. For example, a track-etched detector (LR-115, Makrofol KG, CR 39, mica) placed on the polished surface of a sample is irradiated with fast or thermal neutrons then etched with a suitable chemical to deduce the concentration profiles from the track distributions. This method can also be used for the detection of suspended and dissolved U, Th, and Pu in water by (n,f) reactions N in polymers by the N(n,p) C reaction B and Li in semiconductors or glasses by the B(n,a) Li and Li(n,ot) H reactions, respectively. For the detection of fission fragments the use of mica is recommended. [Pg.1678]

As a rule, medicines used in bigger amounts in hospitals are commercially supplied by industry, smaller amounts and ad hoc orders by wholesalers, see Chap. 36. Some tasks delegated to the hospital pharmacist may be fulfilled by centralised services for allied partners due to economic or effectiveness reasons. The frame for this duty has to be flexible enough to attain a fast track distribution within the institution and thus a fast dispensing of medicines to the patient. Tertiay Current Distribution. The current distribution is again impacted when the overpotential influence is that of concentration. As the limiting current density takes effect, this impact occurs. Because of the nonuniform electrolyte resistance, secondary and tertiary current distribution are further compHcated when there is gas evolution along the cell track. As the result of a mix-up at a distribution center, two tank track drivers received each other s papers. One of the trucks carried a load of sodium chlorite solution, and the other carried epichlorohydrin. The chlorite truck went to the customer who was expecting epichlorohydrin and was off-loaded into a tank that already contained some epichlorohydrin. As treated in other chapters of this book, air masses often transport acidic pollutants thousands of kilometres from their original source prior to deposition. Because air mass and storm movements tend to follow regular patterns, there is a strong linkage between the sources of pollutants and the areas that receive the acidic deposition. In eastern North America, the air mass movements and storm tracks are, on the average, from southwest towards the northeast. This serves to carry the emitted pollutants from the industrial "heartland over the more rural and comparatively pristine area of the northeast United States and southeastern Qmada (14). The spatial distribution of sulphate deposition over the eastern United States and Canada in 1980 is shown in Figure 4 (17). [Pg.45]
