In addition to REACH, a wide range of voluntary labelling systems exist as well as different tools, standards, private labels based on best practice and improvement, as opposed to law. A straightforward evaluation of the role of labels in product differentiation is not possible with the plethora of certification schemes, which is often daunting to companies wishing to address sustainability issues and frequently causes confusion and frustration in the market. [Pg.47]

In order to produce sound fineblanking dies economically, tool standards need to be developed for various types of presses. These typically cover standardized dimensions assigned to tooling, as per Fig. 11 ... [Pg.388]

High deviation angles (above 60°) may cause excessive drag or torque while drilling, and will also make it difficult to later service the well with standard wireline tools. [Pg.49]

The first stage in any inspection is to generate a proeedure which is specific to the component being examined in many instances, such a procedure will be based on a standard such as CEN J5I/-EN1714 Non-Destructive Testing of Welds - Ultrasonic Examination of Welded Joints . CamuS incorporates a tool ProcGen to provide assistance with this task. [Pg.766]

At the start of the development, it had been intended use an expert system shell to implement this tool, however, after careful consideration, it was concluded that this was not the optimum strategy. An examination procedure can be considered as consisting of two parts fixed documentary information and variable parameters. For the fixed documentary information, a hypertext-like browser can be incorporated to provide point-and-click navigation through the standard. For the variable parameters, such as probe scanning paths, the decisions involved are too complex to be easily specified in a set of rules. Therefore a software module was developed to perfonn calculations on 3D geometric models, created fi om templates scaled by the user. [Pg.766]

Insofar as Ultrasonic Array probes have come onto the market from several years and are now moving from prototype stages into industrial tools for on-site inspections, methods and tools for acoustic characterization is becoming a real concern. Furthermore, the lack of standards, either national or European, enhances the needs for guidelines proposal. [Pg.819]

Connolly surfaces are standard in Molecular Modeling tools, and permit the quantitative and qualitative comparison of different molecules. [Pg.127]

The drawing software comprises a comprehensive collection of standard tools to sketch 2D chemical structures. To specify all its facilities and tools would go far beyond the scope of this overview, but there are some nice features that are very useful for chemists so they are mentioned here briefly. One of these enables the prediction of H and NMR shifts from structures and the correlation of atoms with NMR peaks (Figure 2-127). lUPAC standard names can be generated... [Pg.139]

Spike Recoveries One of the most important quality assessment tools is the recovery of a known addition, or spike, of analyte to a method blank, field blank, or sample. To determine a spike recovery, the blank or sample is split into two portions, and a known amount of a standard solution of the analyte is added to one portion. The concentration of the analyte is determined for both the spiked, F, and unspiked portions, I, and the percent recovery, %R, is calculated as... [Pg.710]

The principal tool for performance-based quality assessment is the control chart. In a control chart the results from the analysis of quality assessment samples are plotted in the order in which they are collected, providing a continuous record of the statistical state of the analytical system. Quality assessment data collected over time can be summarized by a mean value and a standard deviation. The fundamental assumption behind the use of a control chart is that quality assessment data will show only random variations around the mean value when the analytical system is in statistical control. When an analytical system moves out of statistical control, the quality assessment data is influenced by additional sources of error, increasing the standard deviation or changing the mean value. [Pg.714]

Control charts were originally developed in the 1920s as a quality assurance tool for the control of manufactured products. Two types of control charts are commonly used in quality assurance a property control chart in which results for single measurements, or the means for several replicate measurements, are plotted sequentially and a precision control chart in which ranges or standard deviations are plotted sequentially. In either case, the control chart consists of a line representing the mean value for the measured property or the precision, and two or more boundary lines whose positions are determined by the precision of the measurement process. The position of the data points about the boundary lines determines whether the system is in statistical control. [Pg.714]

Quality assessment includes the statistical tools used to determine whether an analysis is in a state of statistical control and, if possible, to suggest why an analysis has drifted out of statistical control. Among the tools included in quality assessment are the analysis of duplicate samples, the analysis of blanks, the analysis of standards, and the analysis of spike recoveries. [Pg.722]

Another important feature of a LIMS DBMS is the abiUty to perform ad hoc database queries. It is impossible to predict all the forms in which LIMS users will want to display their data while the LIMS is being designed. As a result, it is desirable to select a LIMS which allows users to define their own reports. Most commercial DBMS have a standard query language (SQL) interface. SQL is a simple database query tool which is based on... [Pg.520]

Common Tools. Specialty tooling for maintenance repairs should be avoided. Standard tools readily available to the maintenance organization should be used. [Pg.5]
