C.A. Vacanti, K.T. Paige, W.S. Kim, J. Sakata, J. Upton, J.P. Vacanti, Experimental tracheal replacement using tissue-engineered cartilage, J. Pediatr. Surg. 29 (2) (February 1994) 201—204 discussion 204—5. [Pg.563]

Computer-aided tissue engineering is an example of the growing field of biotechnology. This specialty uses computers to assist in the development of artificial scaffolds for the growth of human tissues, such as ear and nose cartilage replacement, and the development of tissue models for artificial replacement of lost tissue. [Pg.394]

Important application of TPEEs is in medical devices owing to their compatibility with hurrian blood and tissue, as well as inherent resistance to radiation used for sterilization. For example, biodegradable TPEEs based on PBT and PEO under trade name Poly Active could be used in tissue engineering scaffold, bone replacement, wound dressing, artificial skin and as drug release carrier, due to mechanical properties similar to native cartilage [102]. [Pg.414]

Tissue engineering involves the cultivation of various t5q)es of tissues to replace such damaged tissues or organs. Cartilage, bone, skin... [Pg.231]
