It should, however, be remembered that fixed cells cannot be stained with propidium iodide for live/dead discrimination. Fixed cells are, in fact, all dead and will therefore all take up propidium iodide even if some were alive and some dead before fixation. Ethi-dium monoazide offers an alternative to propidium iodide if cells will be fixed before flow analysis. It is a dye that, like propidium iodide, only enters dead cells. It has, however, the added advantage of forming permanent cross-links with DNA when photoactivated. Therefore, cells can be stained for surface proteins, incubated with ethidium monoazide under a desk lamp, washed, and then fixed. At the time of acquisition of data on the flow cytometer, red fluorescence will mark the cells that were dead before fixation. 

Note that counting rates for each component are calculated by dividing the respective counts by time of acquisition to give total count rate Rt, true count rate / Tme, random count rate Rr, and scatter count rate Rs. 

In practice, spectral noise plots can be obtained only in a frequency range that is more limited than in FIS. On the high-frequency side, the limit is imposed hy the instrumental noise, whereas in the low-frequency region, the time of acquisition becomes very long [118]. 

Allows metering of cash flow in a particular implementation year. Cash flow at the time of payment represents the end point of implementation, and the timing of acquisitions can be driven by an annual cash flow plan. 

The mode of operation also strongly affects sensitivity since in continuous-flow measurements the time of acquisition is limited, while in stop-flow important number of transients can be recorded.

Paramagnetic ions at surfaces of cement-based hydrates are an important cause of pore water relaxation. For conventional binders, this causes fast water relaxation within pores. In contrast, pure C3S or alite samples, because of the lack of paramagnetic ions, have longer relaxation times compared to Portland cement samples (up to a factor of 2-5). As a consequence, times of acquisition and RDs increase significantly. In these conditions, it becomes difficult to characterise C3S or alite samples during the early stages of hydration when the material evolves rapidly. Long measurement times become less problematic for mature C3S or alite pastes when the material evolves much more slowly.
