Used industrially as a lire retardant, gasoline additive, antifoam agent, plasticizer, plastic stabilizer, textile conditioner, antistatic agent, and hydraulic fluid additive.

Polysiloxanes with hydrogen atoms on the main chain are also modified by hydrosilylation with aUyl glycidyl ether. The epoxy side groups may then be transformed into ioiuc substituents, as illustrated in Scheme 3. The resulting polysiloxanes with ioiuc side groups have good properties as hair and textile conditioners.
