Templates various

In principle, a template-assisted reaction may also occur without the template. In absence of a template, various alternative non-reactive configurations B of the reactants Ai, A2, Aj,... are possible,... [Pg.457]

In the next step, the suggested models are translated into 3D space by subsequently combining the templates. Again, each model is assessed and ranked according to various structural criteria, such as the geometric fit of the 3D templates and non-bonding interactions (steric clashes). If none of the solu-... [Pg.99]

Any program developed in-house must be easy to use, or user-friendly. If the program has various options for input, analysis, computation, and output, then it must provide the user with a fast way to select them. To meet this need, the system is likely to be menu-driven. The peripheral interactive devices such as mice, joysticks, light pens, graphic tablets, and templates are helpful and often used to expedite the selection process. [Pg.65]

Addadi and Weiner (1999) have concisely and critically reviewed these various strategies and have added their own variant - the use of biological templates, for instance bacterium surfaces to assist self-assembly. Here, self-assembly and biomimetics join forces productively. [Pg.430]

Numerous other methods exist for making the simple crowns. Many of these methods are compared in Sect. 3.1 which deals with variations in the synthesis of 18-crown-6. Further commentary on the influence of templating ions on the synthesis of crown ethers may be found in Chap. 2, which deals with various aspects of the template effect. [Pg.10]

The addition of various alkali and alkaline earth cations to the cyclooligomerization of ethylene oxide by Dale and Daasvatn also provides strong presumptive evidence for the template effect. Recently, Reinhoudt, de Jong and Tomassen utilized several metal fluorides to effect crown formations . The reaction rates were found to be in the order Cs > Rb > > Na LE. Such an order would be expected on the basis of binding... [Pg.16]

New templated polymer support materials have been developed for use as re versed-phase packing materials. Pore size and particle size have not usually been precisely controlled by conventional suspension polymerization. A templated polymerization is used to obtain controllable pore size and particle-size distribution. In this technique, hydrophilic monomers and divinylbenzene are formulated and filled into pores in templated silica material, at room temperature. After polymerization, the templated silica material is removed by base hydrolysis. The surface of the polymer may be modified in various ways to obtain the desired functionality. The particles are useful in chromatography, adsorption, and ion exchange and as polymeric supports of catalysts (39,40). [Pg.10]

Simidzu et al.70) carried out template-directed synthesis using various types of templates, e. g neutral ones, 34 (PSt TCT) and PSt TCTC, and cationic ones, such as APVP, 35 (APVP PSt), UPVP PSt, ARPVP, APEI, and 36 (ARPEI). They obtained a large amount of purine-containing oligomers (dimer or trimer) as compared to pyrimidine ones by condensation of nucleotide mixture in the presence of the neutral templates containing pyrimidine bases, such as PSt TCT and PSt TCTC. The authors stated from the results that the existence of the... [Pg.152]

In the same way as arylcarbene complexes, alkenylcarbene complexes typically react with alkynes to provide [3C+2S+1C0] Dotz cycloadducts (see Chap. ccChromium-Templated Benzannulation Reactions , p. 123 in this book). However, some isolated examples involving the formation of five-membered rings through [3C+2S] cycloaddition processes have been reported [71]. In this context, de Meijere et al. found that /J-donor-substituted alkenylcarbene complexes react with alkynes to give cyclopentene derivatives [71a]. This topic is also discussed in detail in Chap.ccThe Multifaceted Chemistry of Variously Substituted a,/J-Unsaturated Fischer Metalcarbenes , p. 21 of this book. [Pg.78]

In another paper, the same authors investigated the 1,3-dipolar cycloaddition on 2-(lH)-pyrazine scaffolds 72 and electron-rich azides, using Cu(0) and CUSO4 as pre-catalysts. To demonstrate the versatility of this approach, they reported the generation of different templates (73 in Scheme 25) as an application of cUck chemistry . They also investigated the Diels-Alder reaction of the so obtained triazoles with dimethyl acetylenedicarboxylate (DMAD), under microwave irradiation. The latter reaction allowed obtaining various pyridinones in good yields (74 and 75 in Scheme 25) [57]. [Pg.228]

A completely different kind of macro cycle, a calix-salen type macrocycle, was obtained in good yield by microwave irradiation of various dialdehydes and diamines [165]. This was the first example of a calix-type synthesis under microwave conditions and without the presence of a metal template. An example of a [3 -1- 3] cyclocondensed macrocycle 265, obtained from a bis aldehyde and a chiral diamine is reported in Scheme 97. [Pg.260]

Noble metal nanoparticles dispersed in insulating matrices have attracted the interest of many researchers fromboth applied and theoretical points of view [34]. The incorporation of metallic nanoparticles into easily processable polymer matrices offers a pathway for better exploitation of their characteristic optical, electronic and catalytic properties. On the other hand, the host polymers can influence the growth and spatial arrangement of the nanoparticles during the in situ synthesis, which makes them convenient templates for the preparation of nanoparticles of different morphologies. Furthermore, by selecting the polymer with certain favorable properties such as biocompatibiHty [35], conductivity [36] or photoluminescence [37], it is possible to obtain the nanocomposite materials for various technological purposes. [Pg.136]

The examples just presented give initial impressions of how DNA can be utilized as a template in the synthesis of nanometric and mesoscopic aggregates. However, the studies emphasize the importance of fundamental research on the interaction between DNA and the various binders, such as metal and organic cations. Of particular importance are the consequences of binding events on the structure and topology of the nucleic acid components involved. [Pg.413]
