Technology society seminars

The SPIE (the international optical technology society) offers a wide variety of publications on the topic of display systems engineering. The organization also holds technical seminars on this and other topics several times each year. SPIE is headquartered in Bellingham, WA. The Society for Information Display (SID) also holds regular technical seminars and offers a number of publications on the topic of display systems. SID is headquartered in Santa Ana, CA. Furthermore, two books on the topic of display systems are recommended ... 

In 1940 the Society founded the Technological Institute, with the aim of disseminating information on scientific and technological development by means of seminars, lectures, courses, congresses, conferences. 

Each of the annual fall meetings of the Electrochemical Society over the past 18 years has included a special seminar on Li batteries and related technology. Most of these symposia have produced books that include full presentation papers. These books are published annually, within the framework of the PV series, by the Electrochemical Society, Inc. (e.g., PV 80-4, 81-4, 84-1, 87-1, 88-6, 90-5, 91-3, 92-15, 93-24, 94-4, 94-28, 97-18). 

The annual fall Materials Research Society (MRS) meetings have, in recent years, included symposia on battery technology and materials. These seminars include highly updated information on R D related to Li batteries and produce proceedings volumes on the presentations, appearing as peer-reviewed, full papers.

Matsumoto (Univ. of Tsukuba, Japan) then introduced his study Mode of action of several classes of herbicides causing photooxi dative injury in plants . The second one dealt with insecticides, where X.-H. Qian (East China Univ. of Science and Technology, China) and K. Matsuda (Kinki Univ., Japan) presented their recent findings on chemistry and biochemistry of neonicotinoids. Interchange between Pesticide Science Societies of Korea and Japan was also maintained at a seminar entitled Current and future R D activities in agrochemical area in Korea and Japan . 

This contribution is derived from Strategy and System Reppe and the Development of Organic Chemicals in I.G. Farben, a paper presented at a meeting of the Society for the History of Technology, Madison, Wisconsin, 3 November 1991. Subsequently it has been reworked and presented at various seminars. It is based largely on my doctoral thesis, The Development of Acetylene Chemistry and Synthetic Rubber by I.G. Farbenindustrie Aktiengesellschaft, 1926-1945, Oxford University D.Phil., 1982.

Numerous publications are available from the Audio Engineering Society (New York, NY), which serves the professional audio industry. AES also sponsors yearly trade shows and technical seminars that address various areas of audio technology.
