Trade secrets become unprotectable when they are found in the pubHc domain, are independentiy developed, or are disclosed out of confidence. Oh, you re just a distributor. If I had a nickel for every time I heard that when a prospective customer approached our booth at a trade show, let us just say I wouldn t have to be working. Many assume that the role of distributor can be relegated to that of middleman, reseller, or intermediary one who lacks the expertise of those who actually manufacture products— Oh So you just buy products and resell them to someone else. These gross oversimplifications do little to explain the scale, complexity, and critical role that a distributor plays in the movement of goods and services from manufacturer to end user (the supply chain), particularly in the pharmaceutical industry. [Pg.421]

Close collaboration between the Project Manager, the project team and those involved in the organising of field and customer trials is necessary. This needs to be done in order to deliver the bulk material in time to meet certain deadlines. Examples include the need to have material available to spray crops during the growing season, having samples ready to go in to a long term testing trial for corrosion protection or available to produce a new paint formulation in a customer s plant and to use this at a trade show. [Pg.241]

All of the FDA s correspondence is public and can be obtained on its web site. One of the worst letters for a Pharma executive— besides the letters from its board of directors (BOD) and major investors— to receive is a warning letter. Threads of disputes can be followed from complaints to actions on http //www.fda.gov/foi/waming.htm. Most frustrating for company executives is that these complaints often start with the alleged misrepresentation of a dmg s efficacy for too broad a range of indications without due reference to its contraindications made by the company s representatives at a trade show. The text may read something like the following ... [Pg.246]

Trade shows provide excellent opportunities to seek out and meet contract manufacturers. Contract manufacturers operate exhibits where literature on their companies can be obtained for later evaluation. Talking with the exhibitor s personnel provides an opportunity to conduct preliminary discussions with contractors about the services they offer. You can determine on the spot whether or not a particular contractor will be suitable for your project. [Pg.753]
