Technology and the economy

Both see technological development as an outcome of science and as essential for economic prosperity. I then critically examine the supposed relationships between science and technology and between technology and the economy. This leads first to an account of what science is and second to a critique of the priority given to the economy by government policy. 

An aging population and continued improvements in engine technology and fuel economy may slow U.S. gasoline demand in the early part of the twenty-first century from the 2 percent annual growth rate of the 1990s.

Stereolithography is simple in concept and it provides great economies for the design lab as well as for the modeling process. It also provides previously unrecognized challenges for the polymer photochemist, for it is entirely a laser-initiated technology, and the polymerization reactions take place to depths below a finitely thin surface layer.
