Technical Note 5 Forming

During the course of the review each team member writes technical notes describing the situation in each of the review areas. These notes contain experts observations, including any recommendations and suggestions. Good practices or good performances are reflected as well. Technical notes form the basis for a draft review report. The draft report is completed by the end of the review and presented to the host organization. [Pg.60]

These are a self-sufficient full set of documents providing the instructions which have to be available in the control room. They can be either computerized or in paper form. The EOPs shall contain all the information necessary for the operator to do his job. Not only do they need to contain the instructions themselves, but also all the diagnostic tools, the monitoring tools as well as the administrative and technical notes and/or warnings. The information can be in different formats text, charts, flow diagrams, figures, tables of values, etc. A detailed hst of possible elements contained in an EOP is provided in Ret [3]. [Pg.42]

As the result of prodigious efforts, primary thermodynamic tables are now sufficiently extensive to be most useful. The U.S. Bureau of Standards famous Circular 500, now superseded by the parts of Technical Note 270, forms the best-known example. If titanium has been exposed to temperatures above 540 °C (1000 °F) prior to welding, a more complex removal treatment such as chemical, salt bath, or mechanical, or combinations of these treatments, is required. It should be noted that in older literature the terms d and I are used to denote (+) and (-) respectively and D and L are used to denote R and 5 respectively. You can use, however, considerable simpler technics if the matrix A has some special structure. C) dl-Phenylalanitte.—The crude bromo acid is divided into four portions and each portion is added to 2 1. of technical ammonium hydroxide (sp. gr. 0.90) in a 3-I. round-bottomed flask. The flask is well shaken, a rubber stopper is wired in, and the mixture is allowed to stand for a week. The contents of the four amination flasks (Note 5) are then combined in a 12-I. flask, 20 g. of Norite is added, and the flasks are heated on a steam cone overnight. The ammonia which is evolved is conducted into a gas-absorption trap or merely led into water by a tube from the flask. The solution is filtered while still hot on cooling most of the phenylalanine precipitates. This is filtered, washed with 250 cc. of methanol, and the filtrate evaporated under the pressure of a water pump until more crystals form. The solution is then cooled and an additional crop of phenylalanine obtained, which is also washed with methanol. The yield of crude product is 500 g., but it is slightly wet if it is dried overnight in an oven at about 8o°, it will weigh 460 g. This need not be done, however, as the yield of pure product is the same whether or not the crude product is dried. [Pg.101]
