Team leader/facilitator

Facilitate interchange of ideas. The most effective team leaders are often facilitators, not dictators. An interdisciplinary team s greatest strength lies in its multiple perspectives and fresh ideas. Try to incorporate your own ideas into the group s discussion rather than imposing them. Keep in mind that healthy disagreement can enhance both the process and its end result. [Pg.62]

At least one team member must be a competent facilitator for the particular investigative method the team will use. This person does not necessarily need to be the team leader. [Pg.100]

A good future-state mapping team is comprised of people who will actually perform the work later, a good facilitator or team leader, the person who is in charge of the process (process owner), and any others as needed, such as scientists, engineers, subject-matter experts, suppliers, regulators, or customers. [Pg.282]

A senior-level manager should be responsible for safety in the facility. The safety team is his vehicle to drive world-class safety. The primary responsibility of this safety team member is that of a facilitator. Remember that facilitators, like midwives, assist, but do not deliver the results. Therefore, mentoring the team leader and clearing roadblocks for the team, rather than direct involvement in task completion, are appropriate activities. [Pg.95]

Each team is required to upload its one-page report to the Moodle interface before the next laboratory class (usually fourteen days after the day the experiment is run). In addition, the team leader is required to save all pertaining information in a Moodle database structured so as to facilitate the analysis and synthesis of the results. [Pg.126]

An inspected State Party shad be responsible for ensuring that the health and safety risks are ndrurnised and shall facilitate the conduct of the inspection in a safe maimer. When, despite a high level of safety measures, a risk remains, the inspected State Party shall inform the inspection team leader of the level of risk. [Pg.298]

Upon conclusion of the pre-inspection briefing, the inspection team leader shall provide to the representative of the inspected State Party a tentative inspection plan to facilitate the conduct of the inspection. For the purpose of facilitating development of an inspection plan, and familiarising the inspection team with the general layout of the declared facility, the inspected State Party may provide to the inspection team a tour of the declared facility, if possible and agreed. The tour will be limited to a visual drive-by tour with general explanation of the physical layout of the declared facility. The conduct of any such tour will be without prejudice to the 3-hour time limit for pre-inspection activities. [Pg.337]

Another ideal use of this new nriedium is to facilitate transfer of responsibility from one team leader to another. All of the experimental data can be made available in an organized format. Conducted tours involving audio and video clips can make the technology transfer efficient and effective. [Pg.862]

The hazard/study team leader or facilitator has the task of taking the team members methodically through a sequence of questions for each recognized deviation. Figure 3.14 shows the sequence of questions that should be asked of the team. [Pg.87]

Project Leader The project leader should have experience in applying innovation techniques and facilitating change teams. [Pg.60]

An experienced and independent third party risk analysis facilitator has proven to be an effective aid to project leaders in such situations. This completely detached person can ask probing, sensitive questions which may be awkward or politically incorrect for any of the project team members to ask. [Pg.81]

A few years ago, I had the opportunity to facilitate a kaizen blitz (rapid continuous improvement) event as an AME (Association for Manufacturing Excellence) volunteer. Team-based kaizen events are the perfect training method to help leaders understand lean leadership. This event was not at the manufacturing plant in which I worked, but in one that had volunteered to host this three-day kaizen event. It was one of my first experiences at facilitation of a kaizen blitz and having that responsibility in someone else s plant really accelerated my learning curve. [Pg.16]

All of those aspects are important parts of a culture designed to facilitate and encourage innovation. However, they are not sufficient. The decisions to be made can be very complex, and the best solution is not always obvious. Sometimes there is not even enough time to analyze, and decisions have to be made on the spot with incomplete information. That is where the leader comes in. Someone needs to be in charge, and it needs to be clear to everybody who this person is. Someone needs to consider all aspects, and make the right calls, which are sometimes based on inexplicable intuition. The leader needs to earn the trust of the team, endorse and promote all aspects of the culture, be committed to the project, and be capable of making those calls. [Pg.148]
