Systems integration engineering environments

Inkjet must be understood as a complete system. Many disciplines (materials science, chemistry, device physics, system integration, production engineering, software, mechanical engineering, electronics) must be brought together. Customers still face application challenges and available production tools, still in their infancy, often do not meet all requirements. It is not uncommon for systems to exist that work in the laboratory but are not yet ready for a 24/7 industrial environment. [Pg.16]

In subproject BI, the PRIME system (PRocess-Integrated Modeling Environments has been developed for the experience-based process support at technical workplaces. The usage of PRIME for a certain application domain requires the definition of executable process models relevant to the domain. Generalized work processes from chemical engineering design, represProcess Models, were used as a basis for the creation of such executable models. This transition is described in Sect. 6.2. [Pg.147]

Because of that, different BMW projects address the design of an integrated work environment. The engineer does not need to be aware that the visualized data are originated from different systems, because he always works with an interface that consists mainly of the following components ... [Pg.563]

This section summarizes background work on automation systems engineering and on semantic integration of tool data models and introduces the research challenges for data and tool integration in multidisciplinary engineering environments. [Pg.87]
