Successful management advocating

Fortunately, for most psychotropics, side effects are minimal, usually involving nuisance complaints. With some agents, such as clozapine, however, the potential for more serious adverse effects does exist and must be carefully explained to the patient and family. Although managed care has successfully controlled overall financial costs, it is our responsibility to advocate for the optimal delivery of treatment, which necessarily takes into consideration not only the immediate expense of treatment but the impact of appropriate care in the long-term. External participation in projects by academia, other companies, and especially the customer offers a method of validating ideas against current market conditions. This is a difficult part of the business. Also, having a business champion, whether he or she is in management or is a respected scientist who advocates the importance of the project to management, generally correlates with success. 

Due to this development in management theory, the appreciation of inter-firm relationships has been supplemented considerably besides the traditional arm s length management of suppliers, newer theories advocate the consideration of suppliers as partners (Dyer et al. 1998). Whereas the former view, which is still valid and frequently applied, is based on premises of minimal dependence and maximal bargaining power (Porter 1980), the latter view can be traced back to the successful buyer-supplier buyer-supplier relationships prevalent in the Japanese car producing sector. We will take up the two different types of relationship, one after the other. 

Our discussion of cognitive dissonance might give us a potential remedy for this. If we could induce workers and managers to discuss what can go wrong, and in fact advocate the position that an unfavorable outcome would occur, they would be more likely to entertain the idea that an unfavorable outcome (accident) would occur and might modify their behavior to prevent it. In fact this may be the reason for the success of the job safety analysis (JS A), in which workers discuss potential hazards of a task before it is undertaken.
