Subject index weight

My former student Guy Montgomery, who is now a researcher at the Mount Sinai School of Medicine in New York City, demonstrated experimentally that placebo pain reduction cannot be completely explained by the patient s emotional state - or by any other factor that should affect a person s whole body instead of just part of it. He put a placebo cream on the index finger of one hand of his subjects and nothing at all on their other hand. Then he induced pain by putting heavy weights on the subjects index... 

A glossary of the symbols, acronyms and other abbreviations used, a table of the molecular weights of the repeat units of a large number of polymers, and an extensive subject index, will be provided at the end of the book. 

The handbook terminates with an Author Index covering all the names appearing in the individual reference lists of the chapters, followed by a comprehensive Subject Index, a List of the Elements including their atomic weight, and a Periodic Table to further facilitate orientation. 

These test procedures and standards are subject to change, so it is essential to keep up to date if one has to comply with them. It may be possible to obtain the latest issue on a specific test (such as a simple tensile test or a molecular weight test) by contacting the organization that issued it. For example, the ASTM issues new annual standards that include all changes. Their Annual Books of ASTM Standards contain more than seven thousand standards published in sixty-six volumes that include different materials and products. There are four volumes specifically on plastics 08.01-Plastics 1 08.02-Plastics 11 08.03-Plastics III, and 08.04-Plastic Pipe and Building Products. Other volumes include information on plastics and RPs. The complete ASTM index are listed under different categories for the different products, types of tests (by environment, chemical resistance, etc.), statistical analyses of different test data, and so on (56,128,129). 

Hydraulic fracturing fluids are solutions of high-molecular-weight polymers whose rheological behavior is non-Newtonian. To describe the flow behavior of these fluids, it is customary to characterize the fluid by the Power Law parameters of Consistency Index (K) and Behavior Index (n). These parameters are obtained experimentally by subjecting the fluid to a series of different shear rates (y) and measuring the resultant shear stresses (t). Thirty-two (32) healthy male subjects, aged 18-45 years, with body mass index between 18 and 26 kg/m2, with a minimum body weight of 65 kg were treated. 

The mass spectra of compounds of known structure may be collected and indexed according to molecular weight or molecular formula, as in the American Petroleum Institute scheme. Large collections of reference spectra can be indexed and a matching search carried out by computer (e.g. Hites and Biemann, 1968 Crawford and Morrison, 1968a).
