The Chemical Substance Index was initiated during the ninth Collective Index period (1972 to 1976) before 1972, chemical substances and general subjects were in a single Subject Index. [Pg.4]

This index consists of an alphabetical listing of CA Index Names, each of which identifies a specific chemical substance linked to the appropriate CA abstract number. Chemical Substance Indexes (and the earlier Subject Indexes) reflect changes in chemical nomenclature, and in particular the revision of nomenclature implemented for the ninth Collective Index period. (See Section 3.2 and Chapter 7 for a description of the changes to CA Index Names and stereochemical descriptors.)... [Pg.4]

The Subject Index was subdivided into the General Subject and Chemical Substance Indexes beginning with the ninth Collective Index period. [Pg.5]

The Index of Ring Systems was discontinued after the twelfth Collective Index period. For the 1st to the 6th Collective Indexes, Ring System Information was included in the introduction to the Subject Index for the 7th to the 12th Collective Indexes, the Index of Ring Systems was bound with the Formula Index. [Pg.5]

The following specialised classes of organic substances or types of names were subject to changes during the twelfth (1987-1991) or thirteenth (1992-1996) Collective Index periods ... [Pg.47]

Chemical Abstracts. Author indexes subject indexes List of Periodicals Abstracted preparation of an abstract. [Pg.32]

The subject index is the most important part of the index and the searcher should make himself familiar with the system of subject indexing used by indexing periodicals. [Pg.24]

In using CA there is no need to refer to the annual indexes if one of the collective indexes is available. The annual indexes contain nothing of value which is not also in the collective indexes. There are a few more entries in the collective subject indexes than in the annual indexes for the periods covered and these collective indexes are improved to reflect the growth of chemistry and of the language of chemistry which has taken place during these periods. Mistakes of both commission and omission discovered in the annual indexes are corrected in the collective indexes. [Pg.45]

This great compilation was intended to contain the principal independent periodicals of every branch of pure and applied science published in all countries from the rise of this literature to the present time (1895). The 8600 titles are arranged alphabetically. Included also are chronological tables, a classified subject index, and American library holdings. [Pg.98]

Having almost finished the remarkable work of closing the war and postwar gap in coverage of chemical literature, the editors of Chemisches Zentralblatt are now preparing the publication of several cumulative indexes, indexes to the Erganzungsbande and the Sonderband 1950/54, and indexes to the more recent volumes. No cumulative index has been available in 1960 for the period since 1944, and the 1940-1944 volumes have only one cumulative (author) index. Annual subject indexing of Chemisches Zentralblatt is some three to four years behind in publication. [Pg.138]

Soviet periodicals are rather prompt in publishing indexes at the end of the year. The subject indexes of specific publications should be examined when searching for specific topics. [Pg.171]

Catalog of United States Census Publications. Issued quarterly, this catalog contains detailed descriptions of the contents of the reports issued during the period covered, as well as a geographic and a subject index. Monthly supplements... [Pg.182]

We are the official depository for publications of the Chemical Market Research Association and the Commercial Chemical Development Association. Inasmuch as many of these meeting papers are not published in periodicals, the two sets of proceedings form a valuable and interesting addition to our library. An up-to-date author and subject index is maintained by the library, so the material is of practical service to chemical market readers and to members of industrial market research departments. [Pg.282]

The series has not for many years possessed a subject index. In a series of this type in which any one volume contains contributions on a number of disparate topics, a subject index covering a single volume is not especially useful. However, a subject index appearing periodically should be of considerably greater utility to readers. Therefore, with Volume 40, subject indexes will appear in every fifth volume. The subject index for Volume 40 will be cumulative, covering Volumes 1-40 subsequent subject indices will cover just the preceding five volumes, e.g., that of Volume 45 will cover Volumes 41-45. [Pg.3]

Entries in the subject index are restricted to topics which are basic to the substances or groups under discussion, incidental mention does not necessarily merit inclusion. Literature references are listed in the order in which they appear, and the abbreviations used for journals are those found in Chemical Abstracts List of Periodicals. [Pg.620]

The present third edition has been substantially revised and extended with new sections (e.g. on uncertainty) compared to the second edition. The most accurate recent fundamental physical constants and atomic masses are tabulated. The symbol as well as the subject index has been extended considerably to facilitate the usage of the Green Book. A table of numerical energy conversion factors is given and the most recent lUPAC periodic table of the elements is given on the inside back cover. [Pg.343]

Two outstanding periodic reviews have recently appeared. One is published jointly by the Textile Institute and the Society of Dyers Colourists, both in England (29), The first volume of this review appeared in 1949 with the stated purpose of being addressed to all scientists and technologists concerned with textiles. Each volume has major headings such as research, production, etc. and these are subdivided according to fiber type. Each volume also contains an author and subject index. [Pg.193]

BIOS issued a Technical Index of Reports on German Chemical Industry (7), in 6 parts, which indexes BIOS and FIAT Final, CIOS Roman Numeral Series and JIOA reports. Each part of this publication is a separate subject index for the reports issued in the period covered there is no cumulative index. The indexing is apparently chiefly derived from report titles. [Pg.479]

The HSE/IS produces annually a list of over 1600 titles taken within its Information Service entitled Health and Safety Executive Information Service Current Periodicals List . This lists the current title, former title(s), and frequency of publication. A companion volume entitled Subject Index to the HSE Current Periodical List gives under an alphabetical subject heading a list of relevant magazines. Both are available free of charge from the Health and Safety Executive, Information Centre, Broad Lane, Sheffield S3 7HQ, England. [Pg.84]
